We can run Doom on a pregnancy test, and yet we can no longer download WordPress with a 128M memory limit using the official CLI.

@alexcooldev I used Stripe Atlas many years ago, with Mercury bank. Running costs are quite high though, compared to most other jurisdictions.

I’m looking into setting up an LLC in the US to use Stripe (Stripe doesn’t support my country yet 🥲). Do you know of any services that make it easy to set up an LLC and a bank account for non-US residents?

People think $20k/month is freedom. After tax: $16,250 $2,400 rent $300 bills $1,100 food $400 social / gifts $2,800 travel $3,200 lottery tickets $2,700 Toyota Corolla payment $3,000 shopping $40 investing Congrats. You saved $150. $20k/month is survival.

@FranWalsh73 Sounds like a very risky portfolio for their age. I’d expect both to be heavy on bonds at retirement.

Two people retire with $1M each. Same exact portfolio. Same withdrawal rate. Same average returns. One runs out of money in 18 years. The other has $1.8M left after 30 years. The difference? Sequence of returns. The retirement risk no one talks about: ↓

i've never had to think about this because i wrote a bash script years ago that does literally everything ./lets_go.sh and 30-40 min later my new machine is identical to my old one • installs every package/tool i use • does browser ext, settings, system prefs, dotfiles, terminal customisation, keyboard shortcuts, display settings etc • sets up all my aliases and configs • clones all repos marked as IMP and installs dependencies • rsync pulls media everything back to exact same paths • even sets up my git config, ssh keys i built this after the 2nd time i spent a whole day setting up a new laptop and thought "this is stupid" now when my laptop dies or i upgrade, i literally don't care. boot up, run the script, grab tea, come back to my exact dev environment the script itself is version controlled. so when i install something new or change a config, i update the script. it's always current. people spend 2-3 days setting up new machines. i spend 40 minutes doing nothing. automate the boring stuff. use that time to build something that matters.

Just downloaded WordPress from the .org website. Extracted it locally. And uploaded the extracted version via FTP. I feel like a caveman

You can't run a business on a VPS. It's unreliable. You need AWS. You need microservices. You need Kubernetes. (This server costs me 13 EUR/month on @Hetzner_Online and has been running for 3 years.)

@csaba_kissi The second guy takes 8 months writing the project skeleton, another 4 months writing an HTTP abstraction layer, and then another 8 weeks making the code “clean.” The first guy ships the full prototype in three weeks. Guess who makes an impact before you run out of VC money.

I love coffee so I have an ongoing spreadsheet of new coffee beans to try from roasters I discover Each order, I try new beans & old favorites so I can constantly look for new coffee I love. Over time, I've narrowed my favorite coffees to light roast beans from South America, usually Colombia I recently found a roaster in Colombia I wanted to order directly from. I asked my asisstant to ship some beans from there. She emailed me: "Please see below the shipping charges for the only two methods available for XXXXX Coffee"

Has anyone tried to speak like AI to their coworkers IRL? Perfect — this is exactly the right mindset. Exactly, let's unpack that clearly. Excellent question — and one that every ___________ eventually asks.
