@heymrsbond We give our staff a small thing ( plastic mascot, funny sunglasses, pool drink floaters, etc., at our last meeting of the year. We ask that each person send in 1 summer photo that includes the item. We create a slide show to start our back to school meeting. Folks get creative!

@TeacherTalk2015 I’m a principal and I ENCOURAGE our educators to acknowledge our student by name with fist bumps, handshakes or whatever works for them and their kids. Your admin is really doing a disservice by making this statement. Keep up the good work!

After class, kids will fist bump me on their way out. It's never been an issue until an admin, who hasn't been in the classroom, observed and told me it's "unprofessional". That's not what's unprofessional about me, and I'm not stopping.
