From what I’m seeing internally about the shut down this was a calculated step to basically make the GOP eat shit next year. Trump & the Republicans were never going to pass ACA subsidies. Trump was poised to keep the government shut down indefinitely, which would have forced people to starve, airports all over the country would’ve shut down during the holidays and no matter what any party came up with, he was never going to sign anything with ACA subsidies in it. Now what ends up happening is the Dems can take up this fight at the beginning of the year. And when the Republicans don’t vote on forwarding ACA subsidies (which you know will happen) they own people losing their healthcare across the country. The House can now also seat their new democratic member and they can release the Epstein files, which is gonna make things a lot worse for Trump & the GOP The senators that voted for it are either retiring, or they don’t have to worry about reelection for a number of years. And with people’s short-term memories, it won’t matter. Everyone has to remember, yes this deal sucks. But the Democrats hold no power in Congress. And with a stupid motherfucker in the White House, who doesn’t care if people go hungry or die, they were never gonna get anywhere. That is why it is imperative that we win the midterms next year.

just for context: The 35W bridge collapsed over the Mississippi in Minnesota on Aug. 1, 2007. The House voted Aug. 3 to spend $250 million to rebuild the bridge. The vote was 421-0. It passed the Senate by unanimous consent after an amendment was adopted by unanimous consent. House adopted the new version by UC, as well. The bill was signed into law by President Bush Aug. 6.

I have a warning for you. One you should heed. I often post, “I’m not a lawyer…” before posting my opinion on a legal matter. I likely know about as much about the law as the average twitter follower. Human behavior, however, is a different story. That is my one lone and very thin area of expertise in life. I’ve served in several professional roles in this area. As you know, I have said that I don’t believe Donald Trump will be the GOP nominee. I still believe that. Whether it’s true, or not, however, is largely irrelevant. Our job remains the same. As are the consequences of losing the election…to anyone. I believe the nation is ready for an election against Donald Trump. My are of concern, and, thus, the impetus for my post, is that we must be prepared for Donald Trump NOT being the GOP candidate. In combat, one of the most dangerous times is right after a prolonged firefight has taken place, and you’ve gotten the better of your enemy. It happens just when you were feeling the most elated and relieved. Soon after the last bullet is fired, the post-adrenaline dump crash sets in. The lethargy, foggy thinking and exhaustion make even the simple task of walking feel as though your legs are water soaked logs. Some men become sleepy. Others may become giddy, almost like they are intoxicated. You are not at your best. You are very possibly at your worst. It’s also when you are most vulnerable to attack, and most likely to be overrun and defeated by an inferior force. When you understand it, and account for it….you can stay vigilant. By understanding that the battle may have been won, but the war isn’t over, and that danger is still lurking, you can keep both your mind and body in the game. Should the day come-for whatever reason-that we would find out Donald Trump will NOT be on the ticket, the easy thing to do (and the thing we all desperately want to do) would be to breathe a massive sigh of collective relief. To feel that our worst nightmare has ended, and that we have found ourselves tucked neatly and comfortably beneath the safety of our covers, having come back to a wakeful and peace filled existence. That would be a fatal mistake. That would spell the end. Were we to make such a careless and irresponsible mistake, voter turn out would be fewer people that it would have been otherwise. It would very likely cost us the election and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. In a fight…any fight…people aren’t at their best when they feel like it’s okay to go ahead and feel relief. Historically, that’s often when they’ve been taken out. One quick fix to this potential problem is embarrassingly simple-and yet incredibly effective. No matter the Republican on the screen, and no matter what they are saying or communicating….you simply imagine Donald Trump, standing just behind them, whispering each and every word he is demanding that they say, and realize that should that person ever have their turn in the White House…that’s exactly how it would go down: Donald Trump would still be calling the shots. In summary, then, the 2024 election is to decisively defeat Donald J. Trump, no matter who is on the ballot. Trump will be on the ballot…no matter what the letters appear to spell. Don’t ever forget it. Remember it. Live it. Become it.

Happy to help you out, @elonmusk. First, it’s a stupid question as Ukraine support is 3% of US military budget. If you are in camp of wanting to utilize US military on border, there’s still 97% of $842 billion to invade Mexico or whatever nutty idea you favor. So it’s a false choice. But what does it mean for US if Russia wins? If Russia defeats Ukraine, it will not stop, just as the successful Georgia invasion led to successful 2014 Ukraine invasion which led to successful Russian intervention in Syria. Ask the Poles or Estonians. If the largest ground war in Europe since WW2 is a victory for aggressor, it will destabilize Europe and end the post-WW2 peace that has made Europe the largest and most reliable trading partner of US. The consequences of appeasement in Europe are obvious and devastating. The odds of Chinese invasion of Taiwan will greatly increase. Why is Taiwan doing so much to help Ukraine? globaltaiwan.org/2023/06/taiwan…. Because they know their security is at greater risk if Russia wins. But if increasing odds for future invasions by Russia and China and their potential for starting WW3 is not persuasive, there’s the question of the basic morality of once again allowing genocide in Europe. This may mean nothing to you but for those of us who have relatives who fought and died to end the last European genocide, it does have meaning. America may be just a place on the map with a flag to you and your globalist friends but for most Americans it is still the last best hope for liberty and human decency. As for the southern border, the Biden Administration has a coherent plan that Republicans have stalled and opposed because they want to use it as a political weapon. cfr.org/article/bidens…. Tweets like yours prove their strategy has some success. But if you are actually interested in comparing Trump vs Biden border policies, here’s a good start: bbc.com/news/world-us-… Lastly, it should not be lost on you that America is a nation of immigrants. Most assimilate American values quickly and with great passion. There are odd outliers such as yourself and Rupert Murdoch who do fail to assimilate but history indicates your many children who are born in America will better understand and appreciate their new heritage. Hope this helps.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

Why do so many American politicians from both parties care 100 times more about the Ukraine border than the USA border?
