I think the "bull runs" in Spain are truly disgusting. But as long as they go on, I will always cheer for the bulls and never the people.

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION tinyurl.com/2sz5de8a It is that time of year again that foxes are being legally culled by licensed gun man at schools and golf clubs.📷 It may be 'legal' but is ethically wrong. Foxes are not classified as "vermin" and as apex predators play an important role in the ecosystem. Shooting foxes is no solution but a senseless act of cruelty. If you don't want foxes on your grounds, the only solution is to fox-proof it, as after a cull other foxes will instantly move into the vacant territory because territories in urban areas are so hard to find and desperately needed by vixens trying to rear their young.

London. A meaningful and warm meeting with Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. During our talks, we discussed the challenges facing Ukraine and all of Europe, coordination with partners, concrete steps to strengthen Ukraine’s position, and ending the war with a just peace, along with robust security guarantees. A principled statement of support from the Prime Minister and an important decision: today, in our presence, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed a Loan Agreement. This loan will enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities and will be repaid using revenues from frozen Russian assets. The funds will be directed toward weapons production in Ukraine. This is true justice – the one who started the war must be the one to pay. I thank the people and government of the United Kingdom for their tremendous support from the very beginning of this war. We are happy to have such strategic partners and to share the same vision of what a secure future should look like for all. 🇺🇦🇬🇧

I need your help as time is running out. Every day that passes more Badgers are being slaughtered because of the senseless Badger cull. And I’m doing absolutely everything in my power to stop it. Please can I ask for just ten seconds of your time? A few months ago I set up a petition on behalf of Protect the Wild calling for an end to the cull. And we’re now sitting on 60,000 signatures but in recent days momentum has slowed down significantly. This is the first week in a while that we haven’t hit our weekly target so I’m calling on all wildlife lovers to please add your name to it. The deadline to reach 100,000 and secure a debate in Parliament is fast approaching. If you’ve signed already can I ask you to share it with a friend? To avoid this post being limited by the algorithm I will leave the petition in the comments a few minutes after posting. Thank you. Rob

Protect the Wild has just uncovered a secret government review that has been happening behind closed doors. In January, DEFRA launched a review to look at the latest science on bovine TB (bTB) control, with findings due in June. But instead of choosing independent experts, officials under Minister Daniel Zeichner have filled the panel with people who have spent years pushing for badger culling. This is yet another example of vested interests corrupting decision-making at the highest levels. The recommendations from this review will be handed to the discredited BTB Partnership, a group dominated by livestock farmers, industry vets, and other pro-cull advocates. We already fought off Rishi Sunak’s sham consultation in March—thanks to public pressure, that was thrown in the bin. But now Labour is still allowing culling to continue in the so-called Low Risk Area, under pressure from the very same officials who pushed mass badger culling under the Tories. This must end. DEFRA’s Panel: A Conflict of Interest Scandal One name at the centre of this latest review? Professor Charles Godfray of Oxford University, who has been reappointed to examine bTB science—despite his long history of backing badger culling. Godfray was previously involved in the 2018 government review on bTB, which led to continued badger culling under Michael Gove. His colleague Cristl Donnelly, who co-authored work justifying culling in 2013, has stepped back from being reappointed this time—perhaps sensing the controversy. But that hasn’t stopped DEFRA from stacking the panel with academics who have previously supported culling, including statistician Bernard Silverman, another Oxford-based researcher, tasked with checking the work of his own university. While it may be too strong to definitively label Silverman as "pro-cull," his position within the same department as Donnelly raises potential concerns about conflicts of interest. This is Oxford University marking its own homework. A sham. A total farce. Please take action and sign the petition calling on conflicted panel members to be removed: protectthewild.org.uk/the-badger-pet…

The big question arising from this bizarre Cairngorms lynx story is not how the poor things got there; but why lynx, a secretive, beautiful British native species no larger than a labrador, have not been officially reintroduced to Britain long ago. The malevolence of a small rural cabal opposed to any kind of wildlife recovery and the stranglehold it has over weak-kneed government officials cannot be overstated. The British public overwhelmingly wants the return of beavers and storks and eagles and lynx and vibrant landscapes singing with life. But a few puce-faced individuals, stuck in a mindset of ruthless exploitation and cold dominion over nature, just won’t allow any of it. That’s why nothing ever happens. Life is short, and you can well see why some people are tempted to take matters into their own hands. Every single wild-living beaver in Britain today is there as a result of unlicensed releases, not to mention goshawks, wild boar and a host of other recovering native species. They returned *in spite of* not because of government. Meanwhile the release of 50 million non native pheasants into the landscape each year is waved through without a shred of paperwork. The Scottish authorities were so terrified this week of the wrath of rural vested interests that they turned out hordes of police, supported by acquiescent conservation blob employees, with guns and cages and heat seeking night sights and drones to seize a family of semi-tame tabbies unfortunate enough to have been left out in the woods. You’d have thought the police might have better things to do. Spare your outrage not for the fools who presumably thought they could make a difference by putting them there, but for a rural policy system that is entirely corrupted from top to bottom. And be happy that this particular lynx family is now warm and fed and safe from the keepers’ guns in Edinburgh Zoo. N.B. If you doubt anything I’ve said - ask yourself why native, vital beavers are *still* illegal in England, in spite of reams of science calling for their return. One Defra minister after the next has promised to legalise beavers before being bullied into silence by shadowy rural lobbyists. What’s the betting there’s no good news on beavers in 2025.

As Gaie's MP I tried everything I could to challenge this decision to send her back to prison - including writing to the prisons minister Lord Timpson and the probation service. Why on earth is this government releasing violent criminals early due to prison overcrowding, but then replacing them with a 77-year-old peaceful climate protester who is clearly no threat to the public? And why is she facing this extra punishment of being locked up, for longer than she was meant to be, and over Christmas? Not because she's broken her bail conditions, oh no no, it's because the private company responsible for fitting electronic tags couldn't find one the right size for her, and the authorities weren't willing to consider alternatives like daily check-ins at the police station. Do we think that, perhaps, this government might be getting its priorities wrong?
