Activists largely just parroted this. No one with a large enough footprint genuinely said LEOs SHOULDNT have body cams.

@IGN How is this a 9??? The story feels like it was written by a 12 year-old on RPG Maker. The battle system is pretty plain too. I guess the graphics are good for what it is. If by quintessential RPG you mean “cookie-cutter,” then sure.

@KristoffMikael @Sebbywebz Because, historically, those games don’t sell well compared to arpg counterparts. E33 is an exception to the rule. Its success is more than just its content, and I’d argue it’s a lot more about the elements of its creation that catapulted it into the front.

@Sebbywebz It should not be controversial to say we want more AAA quality turn based games! Part of E33’s success was from filling that void imho. As much as I love games like Octopath Traveler 2 and Yakuza, which I can’t wait to see you stream, it’s not the same.

This meme is one of the biggest lies in the JRPG community. It’s low, even by their standards Final Fantasy has always pushed the boundaries. From NES to PlayStation, it’s the blockbuster of JRPGs In 1986, Dragon Warrior was the biggest name in the genre. Final Fantasy 1 (1987) made it look dated. FF then overshadowed DQ for decades FF7-10 (1997-2001) were a gold standard in gaming. The only company that could compete with its cinematics was Blizzard Not only that, it aimed to excel at everything else: Storytelling, Characters, Music and Gameplay When people today say they want a Turn-Based Final Fantasy, they mean a game with that ambitious design philosophy None of the games in this meme have the cutting-edge feel of FF. They instead aim to replicate styles from 20 years ago They may fill those gaps in the market. But none of them fill the void that Final Fantasy left behind No one is “pretending not to see” them. They’re just not interested
