A viewer named Debbie got the phrase “nut cuttin time down on the ranch” banned from my program. Debbie ruined it for everyone.

Last night, I made a simple request on X. I asked if anybody visiting Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day would stop by Alan’s grave and leave a photo for our family. What happened next honestly caught me off guard. By this afternoon, dozens of Americans from all walks of life had made the walk to Section 60 to visit SSG Alan W. Shaw. Veterans. Families. Complete strangers. People who had never met Alan, but chose to honor him anyway. For one day on social media, people put aside the constant noise and negativity and came together for something bigger than themselves. My notifications filled with photos, kind messages, prayers, and stories from people honoring not just Alan, but so many of our fallen heroes. I don’t think people fully understand what moments like this mean to Gold Star families. The fear is never just losing them. It’s losing them slowly over time as the world moves on and fewer people remember their name. But today showed me that Alan will never be forgotten. After years of watching social media reward some of the worst parts of humanity, today gave me a reminder that the good is still out there too. Thank you to every single person who stopped by to visit Alan today, said his name, shared his story, or took a moment to honor the fallen. This right here is the America Alan knew and loved enough to fight and die for. And today, y’all showed us all that it’s still here and it’s still worth fighting for. 🇺🇸

We lost our dad early this morning. Finally freed from the shackles of dementia. It’s an evil disease took the one thing he cherished most — his dignity. Four years ago he was his normal effervescent self. Four months ago he stopped talking. Four weeks ago he became a prisoner of his own bed. Four days ago he went to sleep and never woke up. But I choose to remember Ezio Lombardi as the smartest man I’ve ever known. The man who gladly played the foil in all of my goofy videos. The man who came to this country with nothing but a 6th grade education and a pocket full of dreams. I’ll always cherish this chat we had in the car several years ago on his birthday. Rest easy, EasyE. You will always be my hero.

@Cholly @AsheinAmerica @ShawnSmith1776 With respect, you might have received a different kind of journalism education (which is fine). I was taught to tell the truth, not just repeat what people say they believe. Appreciate the dialogue. Have a good one.

I know it sounds like I’m splitting hairs on the terminology re: what Peters did. But to me as a M.A Journo it’s important. We all have biases and it’s nearly impossible to be “unbiased” in our reporting. To combat this reality the SOP is to state both the proponents’ and detractors’ positions. In this case: (broadly) the state officials’ position is Peters led a breach of election systems. Detractors argue Peters carried out her CC&R duties to preserve election records. As journalists our job is to present the facts (as best we can) then let people come to their own conclusions. Same to you - have a good weekend.

I understand you didn’t make the claim she was charged with a breach of voting systems- but the insinuation she led a breach of the voting systems is untrue. She preserved election records based on her duties as a CC&R. That’s not a breach of election systems. How Peters went about preserving election records is where the legal questions were raised.

@Cholly @AsheinAmerica @ShawnSmith1776 Hi Holly. I've reread the post a few times and I don't see where I said Peters was charged with breaching an election system. She led a breach of voting systems and was charged and convicted of crimes she committed in the process.

NEW: Tina Peters speaks out in defense of Colorado Gov Jared Polis (D), says the Democratic censure of Polis for granting her clemency is further evidence of an election rigging coverup.

Polis was to be honored for his work protecting elections. Then he gave clemency to Tina Peters, who led a breach of voting systems. “We are an organization that focuses on voting and elections,” LVW director Beth Hendrix told me. “We just couldn’t move ahead with this award.”

Last year’s recipients were AG Phil Weiser (D) and Mesa County DA Dan Rubinstein (R) who led the prosecution of Tina Peters. Polis was due to receive the League of Women Voters’ Leader of Democracy Award next month.

With the eyes of America on Colorado's Governor, Jared Polis stepped before the television cameras and masticated a carrot for nearly a minute. It was weird but, if you know Governor Polis, it was not unusual.

Governor Polis' first press conference since he granted clemency to Tina Peters focused on healthy foods. POLIS: "While I chew on the carrot, any questions?" (reporters asked about Peters/clemency) POLIS: "I'm going to finish chewing my carrot."
