@Cap1talCap1tal Curious if you've looked at ARX and have any thoughts on their MGA programs vs the aggressive pricing/overcapacity created by the typical MGA?

i think you resolve this via schmidhuber – a paper it seems only attracts east coast readers the universal imperative is curiosity for new beauty and a decentralized player could turn into an apparently centralized one by the deliberate and convicted expression of its curiosity

All attempts to roll up the global economy under a centralised router are ill-founded because there is no single imperative the world wants to optimise for, making most signals extracted from individual instances of the AI extremely bloated

@MikeSimanovsky Great message! Learning about athletes like Gary Hall was incredibly heartening when I found out I was T1D too. Love to see people highlight this

Big fan of Eric & what @trytrata is building!
Trata (YC W25)@trytrata

Trata (@trytrata) is now on FinTwit. We host anonymous buyside to buyside conversations via voice calls. We work with 125+ funds (vs. 10 in March) and receive 25-30 human-to-human calls weekly. We compile these conversations into a library of investment research. EX: Fund 1 is bullish and Fund 2 is bearish on $OPEN, they ask each other questions they want answered surrounding the key debates for anywhere between 30-60 minutes. The average fund on the platform: ~$200-400mm in AUM, 3 investment professionals, fundamental research focused. These funds use tools like Bloomberg and third-party expert networks, and have regular access to management teams. To the qualified lurkers and anon accounts of FinTwit: Request a call on any ticker (bull or bear). If we pair you, we’ll give you: 1. Access to that transcript and any transcripts on that ticker published through the end of 2026 2. Airpods

@nosunkcosts The real vs nominal distinction is spot-on. Would also add that there are definition problems (e.g. flows from savings to equities vs among equities; bid/ask changes without $ flows). What do you think is the best metric for "equity flows" for >3mo timeframes?

@g3cfo Thank you! I've only read a few of these, and just ordered the rest online. The one I'm still searching for is a tell-all from a private equity CFO. The adjustments they make, the way they shift numbers to fit narratives. (And please let me know if you know of it)

@g3cfo One of my favorites - Tom is brilliant. Also love Jacob Soll's The Reckoning if you haven't gotten to that one yet. Any others you'd recommend in that genre of accounting history / applied accounting?

@prpl8 Yup, Vanguard 2040 TRF's drawdown is -32% (and that's just nominal). But not seeing signs of TRF selling in earnest -- e.g. not showing in keyword searches. Are you watching closing auctions or anything else in particular?

Withdrawal -> $44k Portfolio (VTWNX) -> $810k Withdrawal % -> 5.4% You will not stand for this. You will sell assets, cut spending, get job & demand (more) welfare. When TDF sell it removes stabilizing force & causes cascade. Good luck. 2/2

Let's talk about retirees. Standard practice is you withdraw 4% of your portfolio as spend each year and you increase by CPI each year. Say you retired w/ $1mm last year so withdraw $40k this year. What happens to withdrawal and portfolio with what has happened in 2022? 1/2

a friend asked me a question yesterday that i wasn't sure of the answer to. in the danish mortgage market there is a direct match between a mortgage loan and the bonds issued to fund the loan, so individuals can go into the market and buy back their mortgage

@howardlindzon When I know even very prudent garpy long term oriented mutual funds (not the momo Tiger types) are getting forced redemptions, it makes a bit more sense-still selling but not for the best reason

@prpl8 @FZucchi For those of us who weren’t active then, why didn’t everyone collar their stock in 99/00? Equity lockups? Something small (Eg felt fees too high)? Or did everyone just believe the run would continue?

People don't want to learn your API, so think of it as a ladder: 1. Maximize the problems experts can solve. 2. Minimize how much a novice needs to learn when they take their first step. 3. Make a smooth ladder between their first and last step. blog.sbensu.com/posts/2022-01-…
