In 'Nuremberg: The Translator’s Tale' I reveal one of the most extraordinary and moving stories from the Nuremberg Trials.
A German Jew working inches from the men who sent his own family to Auschwitz...

@LBCNewsScot Clearly not thought through. It's not just about securing a UK visa but the implications on his Indian citizenship.
English

@alxgrd20 @TheParty1sOver I believe he is trying to apply for a graduate visa currently and trying to fund it with donations
English

@TheParty1sOver By all accounts he's a phd candidate and hoping to get a graduate visa on which he can work full time
English

@CraigHouston_ By all accounts he's trying to get a graduate student visa, believe hes a phd candidate, which allows him to undertake full time work. These last for 2-3 years so he'd half to really during term.

@Sadie44689664 Parachuted into the contest regardless of the views of the incumbent snp msp. No one should vote for him
English

@MarinaPurkiss @JeremyVineOn5 I don't know how to debate would suffice. No need for 'this'.

@SimonCalder Leonardo Tower Hill - some of the rooms are not connected to main building. You have to access them externally through a secluded but public court yard. Arrived to find a group of men taking drugs. Not safe for lone female travellers. Removed from our Firms hotel list for travel.
English

Hotel security.
When you check in, you must accept that you are sharing the property with a random selection of humanity.
But every hotel guest has the right to expect privacy and safety in their room.
Tell me of encounters you have had with poor security.

@07aerograd @SimonCalder Had similar positive experiences with Premier Inn
English

@SimonCalder Stayed solo in a Premier Inn. Receptionist wrote room no. on the card, folded it over and gave me a room on the 2nd floor, saying it was policy not to give solo women ground floor rooms. V satisfactory.

@CivicNatalist At 53 I've read nearly 4000 over my lifetime and I hope to that number each and every day.
English

Having zillions of books is just glorified hoarding behavior. Nobody can read more than a couple thousand books lifetime, you're either trying to buy them for archiving or you're a hoarder and the line can get super fuzzy super fast.

How does your home library stack up? In 2023 YouGov surveyed 29,000 Americans to see how many books they have in their homes. The results were disappointing to say the least. - 0 books: 9% (no books AT ALL) - 1–10 books: 20% - 11–25 books: 14% - 26–50 books: 13% - 51–100 books: 12% - 101–200 books: 10% - 201–500 books: 7% - 501–1,000 books: 4% - More than 1,000 books: 3%

@beckstar2 @premierinn I use @premierinn Manchester airport quite regularly as a single female traveller & this has never happened to me- it is always written down on the key card envelope
English

Hugely, frighteningly disappointing to be at reception in the @premierinn Lincoln City Centre today and overhear the male check-in clerk LOUDLY ANNOUNCE a lone woman’s room number to her and all of us in reception. This is absolutely unacceptable, unsafe behaviour.
English

@linkedout_uk @beckstar2 @premierinn Regularly use Premier Inn, and no member of reception staff has ever verbally advised me of my room number. Always written on the accompanying card
English

@beckstar2 @premierinn Yep been travelling for 25 years and they always do it. Very annoying.
English

@h2_hannah @beckstar2 @premierinn Use Premier Inn regularly and they always write the number on the card that comes the key comes with. Never been verbally advised of room number
English

@beckstar2 @premierinn I have no idea why they don’t just write it on the card or on a printed slip and hand it over because I CAN READ.
Anyone who needs help can ask for this. This is not unique to PI but why I try to use the self check in for PI as it just prints a slip out.

Robert Helpmann as the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) is easily one of the most unsettling characters ever put in a kids film.

What absolutely-not-scary movie scene absolutely terrified you as a child?

@tig_james @RhonddaBryant @ClarksonsFarm1 It's a fan account, not his. It clearly states FAN ACCOUNT
English

@RhonddaBryant @ClarksonsFarm1 He doesn't care. If he did he wouldn't have done it in the first place. Even if he takes it down now it will only be because of pressure that will affect him no-one else.
It was a disgraceful thing to do.
English

Come on @ClarksonsFarm1 take it down. I’m all for freedom of speech but not inciting or glorifying violence. And two of my colleagues have been murdered in my time as an MP.
English

@CarolEvs28 @RhonddaBryant @t_cdedwards @ClarksonsFarm1 FFS It's a fan account not his. It clearly states FAN ACCOUNT
English

@RhonddaBryant @t_cdedwards @ClarksonsFarm1 Agree strongly Chris & so glad (and no surprise) that you didn’t retweet it, like so many others are doing
English

@scrumpyh3 @SwailesRuth @TravelodgeUK @premierinn Oh I always travel with one of these. First thing out my suitcase
English

Hotel rooms booked for 6 nights for work, normally I'd use @TravelodgeUK but after reading about them in the news this week, I'm going with @premierinn as I know they have a lone traveller policy. I'm sure I won't be the only one. #SafetyMatters
