today i went to a store in berlin to buy something because the amazon delivery window was too late
i told the owner and he has a strong reaction. “please never use amazon, they abuse workers and harm the environment. i dont mind competition but not them.”
i said ok and asked to pay when he told me they only accept cash.
i never carry cash. he said there’s an atm nearby. i dont even carry a physical card man its 2026.
i hope this boomer business model either adapts or is eaten by amazon and similar models.

@sabakarimm Depends on the product and feature set, really. Arguably the larger companies have examples of both. I loooove great branding but I find I'm starting to care less the more unethically a company behaves 🫠

designers used to get shunned for personal projects, side-quests etc. give yourself 100% to the company and don't think outside.
now with AI, those who kept making things on the side (the curious ones, tool nerds, obsessive ones) are about to THRIVE.

Reflecting on it all, I stirred up unnecessary pain for @threepointone, and I regret it. He very much didn't deserve that, and the community didn't need it.
- He is one of the most welcoming, positive, uplifting people in the JavaScript community
- He's a great listener and someone who leaves every room better than he found it
- He's always team web rather than team $company
