@htmleverything These things don't happen without a perspective shift. Mine happened when I understood I had to advocate for my health because no company ever would. We're resources.
No phone in my bedroom. No work apps on my phone. Computer only.

Serious question
As someone that has a ton of ownership and responsibility for the product I'm working on, how do you wake up and it check your phone right away to make sure there aren't any fires to put out?
Id love to have a phone free morning but the constant pressure of wanted the product to succeed always prevents me from that.

SF is riddled with many AI ads that are incredibly dehumanizing.
You don’t notice it much when you live there but when you commute in from anywhere else it looks dystopian.

goddamn this sucks

The nuance in the pushback concerned artists being already undervalued and exploited, and now they're being displaced disproportionately to us. Our code is not the product; the venture/project is; their art is the product. And we'll still earn way more money overall.
Imagine thinking this is only about training data 💀
English

@softdrinktv As someone who holds a degree studying machine learning and data science... generative AI trained to write code is as much trained on human works as AI trained to create art.
If you accept one, you must accept the other... or you're a hypocrite. There is no middle ground.
English

This is wrong. If you expect indie devs to make games without using AI tools, you’re delusional. 99% of devs are using AI tools to assist with coding, indie or AAA.
We need to draw the line that generating AI art is slop, but using AI to assist with coding is not.

I need to rant for a second. Randy recently released a game called Terrafactor. 3 of the 5 negative reviews are upset because AI was used to assist with programming. None of them mention anything about the gameplay. People who leave reviews like this are sad and pathetic.

@HackingBaseball Depends on what I'm doing. If it's something I've done before a bunch of times I'll use a LLM, or if it's config f that s. At this point in time I handwrite a lot because I'm learning three.js ^^
All the code gets read either way.

When asked what skill I wanted to learn in a job interview, I'd replied:
'Being a great Dungeon Master (no, not that kind!)'
I'll learn from GVAA/sites, DM my first D&D campaign, build a three.js dice roller, add Twitch bot TTRPG updates, and learn improv.
Chill, right? 💀

@sandislonjsak I'm using it now and the UX is meh. It's not the worst! It's also not the best. I deleted my personal account from it entirely because the switching was so terrible xD
