Washington State DYSTOPIA ~ NOBODY KNOWS April 28, 2026 1. I called the Lewis County Assessor to find out why my property taxes have increased 33%. The Assessor couldn't explain HB 2049 (2025) mathematical calculation and told me to contact the State Treasurer's Office, open 10:00am to 2:00pm. 2. I called the new mortgage servicer, who told me that the property tax increase of 33% is based on the "predicted" property taxes for May 2026 to April 2027, information was received from the Lewis County Assessor’s Office. 3. I called WA State Treasurer's Office, and they told me to contact the WA Dept. of Revenue, which concocts mathematical formulas for all taxes. 4. I called WA Dept. of Revenue, who told me they have NO idea who even works in the Property Tax Dept. anymore and that they'll have to do some research because no one really knows how to calculate the School Enrichment Levy (HB 2049) at WA Dept. of Revenue. 5. I've put in a 4th call to Lewis County Auditor’s Office to speak to Ross Nielsen, the auditor, himself. I'm waiting for a call back. Pastor T.L. My boss's boss is like 42, never married, no kids. Earns $275-300K per year. Goes on a minimum of two international vacations a year w/ his girlfriend. 10+ days, all out. Eats the best food, stays in top notch accomodations. Excursions, tours, nicest beaches, etc. Great guy, I'm happy for him. But what I've realized is that without kids, you end up chasing a lifestyle that has to continually be topped in order for you to be satisfied and find happiness. What he and others like him don't understand is that when you have children, seeing THEM experience life's most basic things and watching their eyes light up at all the "firsts", brings greater pleasure and joy than any vacation or travel experience ever could. Seeing THEM try blueberries for the first time is greater than dining at the best 5 star restaurant in Europe. Seeing THEM learn how to walk is greater than walking the Great Wall of China or strolling along the most picturesque beach. Watching THEM giggle uncontrollably at "peek-a-boo" tops any A-list comedian act. Seeing THEIR excitement when building a fort out of cardboard boxes and making a door big enough for daddy is superior to staying at 5-star resorts. Flying kites with THEM far outweighs excursions like parasailing or helicopter rides. Seeing THEM perform a recital on stage for the first time is more rewarding than watching a Broadway show or top notch symphony orchestra. ----------------- When you have children, all of a sudden you realize that life's greatest joys are not in the pursuit of things or pleasure or travel, but rather in the LOVE and bond you share with your very own image bearers. Seeing the beauty and magnificence and wonder of life all over again for the first time through THEIR eyes and expressions gives you something the world simply cannot offer, nor even come close.

Hypothetically…….. I’m being taxed on money I never made. Let that sink in. If I bought my property outright for $60,000 in 2009 Now the county says it’s worth $246,000. Did I sell it? No. Did I make a profit? No. Did I get a check for $246,000? No. But my taxes jumped like I did. That’s the problem. This isn’t income. This isn’t cash. This is a number someone decided on paper — and now I’m being billed for it. If my stock portfolio doubles, I don’t pay taxes until I sell. If my income doesn’t increase, I don’t magically owe more income tax. So why does owning a home work differently? Why am I being taxed on unrealized gains? A house isn’t just an investment — it’s where people live. And this system means you can do everything right, pay off your home, and still get squeezed harder every year because of a number you never turned into money. You don’t truly own something if you can be taxed out of it. This isn’t about “services” or “inflation.” It’s about being charged for value you never received. And people are starting to notice. This needs to be on everyone’s mind✔️
