been thinking about this a lot lately i've (for decades at this pt, as a sixty year old) been like "just buy indexes and chill. don't bet against the US economy. it's been going up and to the right over over a century" but past few months.. i look at the s&p chart, the move from 5xxx to 7xxx, the nanodip on iran fud and instant recovery to new highs while rockets are still flying around and i feel the cracks of doomerism start to show in my thinking like "this has to go down for a few years to cool off. maybe 3-5 years of sideways. maybe longer. the post GFC order of engineering a path back toward equity growth no matter what is going on can't last forever" but i know the instant i go full cash, the s&p goes from 7000 to 12,000 in a straight line, flirts with a cooloff there, then keeps chugging along
