Dumbo or flapjack? Can you tell the difference? The dumbo octopus is named after Dumbo the flying elephant because of its ear-like fins. The flapjack octopus (or flapjack devilfish) has smaller fins & can flatten itself out like a pancake, hence its name. #CephalopodWeek

Logan field update: During #SeascapeAlaska expedition, #Okeanos team, in partnership with @dodpaa, will deploy an @OrcaMaritime Iver3 autonomous underwater vehicle equipped with various sensors to search for a World War II-era B-25 bomber aircraft.
