The rapid-fire succession of "outbreaks" is an increasingly transparent mechanism for maintaining a state of perpetual emergency. By cycling through pathogens, the global health apparatus keeps the public in a state of hyper-vigilance, effectively bypassing critical inquiry into the origins of these crises or the efficacy of the top-down, bureaucratic responses that inevitably follow. It is a well-worn playbook: identify a threat, incite panic, and secure centralized control under the guise of "coordination."
When we look past the headlines, we see the same institutional actors moving to solidify their grip on cross-border surveillance and regional policy. The public has every right to be exhausted. This is not about genuine public health as much as it is about normalizing a state of constant, manufactured alarm that serves to justify the expansion of state power and the erosion of individual sovereignty.
