The tradeoff between safety and financial performance in the auto industry was decided in favor of financial performance 80 years ago with predictable results: 6M crashes/year. The airlines are understandably jealous the auto industry gets a pass on killing people and they don’t.

Multinational fashion brands @ZARA @Gap @OldNavy say they can’t pay their workers $200 a month like they are striking for. Living costs have risen quickly. The government is now subsidizing the companies profits by providing ration cards so they workers can have enough to eat.
