So proud of our 6th place finish at our team’s first ever PGF Nationals!! I’m sad to see the season almost over so soon. This weekend I saw immediate results from my lesson last weekend, placing the ball wherever I wanted with power. I also had some fun catches in RF! I’m so proud of what we accomplished at PGF Nationals, competing against the very best and finishing 6th with an 8-2 record! RI Thunder 16U National Leclair: Softball July 23, 2026. At the PGF Softball Nationals in CA, RI Thunder 16U National Leclair fell in 7 innings to AZ Storm J Decker 16U by the score of 6-5. RI Thunder 16U National Leclair had an incredible run finishing in the final 6 teams out of 28 in the double elimination Pool B Winners Bracket against elite competitors across the USA. The team won 5 games and lost 2 in the winner’s bracket and finished with an overall record of 8 wins and 2 losses at the event with a lot to be proud of and how they played. With the score AZ Storm J Decker 16U 4 and RI Thunder 16U National Leclair 1 to start the top of the fifth inning, RI Thunder rallied to score 4 runs in the top of the fifth inning when Veronica Quimet singled which scored 2 runs and Skylar Hawes singled scoring 2 runs to take a 5-4 lead. AZ Storm J Decker 16U tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on a fielder’s choice bunt by Olivia Gonzalez which scored a run to make the game 5-5. With bases loaded and 1 out in the bottom of the seventh inning, AZ Storm J Decker 16U Madelyn Caines hit a deep single to left field which scored the game winner. Skylar Hawes had 1 hit (single) 1 walk and 3 RBIs. Veronica Quimet had 1 hit (single) and 2 RBIs. Paisley Parisee had 2 hits (double, single) scored 2 runs. Abbie Saltzman had 1 hit (single) 3 walks and scored 1 run. Izzy Dong had 1 hit (single) and 1 walk. Piper Barata had 1 hit (single) and scored 1 run. Jodi Soderstrom had 1 hit (single). Kristah Leclair, Keira Davis and Adriana Torres each had 1 walk. Pitchers Mattea Mello 3 innings and Lila Alvarez 2 innings did not allow an earned run. RI Thunder 16U National Leclair: Softball July 22, 2026. RI Thunder 16U National Leclair played 3 games in the Platinum B Bracket of the PGF Nationals in CA winning 2 out of 3 as they continue to move on to the next round of the bracket on July 23, 2026. RI Thunder 16U National Leclair has gone 3-1 in the double elimination bracket play and has an overall pool and bracket record of 8-1. RI Thunder 16U National Leclair PGF Nationals Shining Spotlights of the Day: Kayleigh Ventura had an outstanding 3 games on the day as she had a key hit in all 3 games played. Kayleigh Ventura reached base 7 times which included 5 hits (2 home runs, 1 triple, 2 singles) 2 walks and 3 RBIs. Skylar Hawes reached base 6 times and had at least 1 hit in all 3 games. Skylar Hawes had 5 hits (home run, double, 3 singles) 1 walk and 3 RBIs. Adriana Torres continued her hot batting streak as she had at least 1 hit in all 3 games and has had a hit in all 9 games played at the PGF Nationals. Adriana Torres on the day had 5 hits (5 singles) 1 walk and 2 RBIs. Izzy Dong reached base 5 times which included 4 hits (4 singles) 1 walk, 1 RBI and had a strong set of games on defense making plays. Play of the Day: With the score tied 5-5 against Foothill Gold Stinson 2028 in the bottom of the sixth inning with a runner on base and two outs, Foothill Gold Stinson 2028 was on the verge of eliminating RI Thunder 16U National Leclair as a batter hit a double and left fielder Izzy Dong raced to get the ball and then fired the ball to Abbie Saltzman at shortstop who then threw to catcher Piper Barata who placed the tag on the runner attempting to score and win the game and was called out by an exceptional play by the defense. That play ended the inning with the score remaining tied until the eighth inning when RI Thunder 16U National Leclair would score 2 runs and then hold on to win and move on to the next round of bracket play. Game 1: RI Thunder 16U National Leclair lost 5-3 to Watson Wolfpack Premier 16U. Kayleigh Ventura hit a solo home run, triple, walked and had 1 RBI. Adriana Torres had 1 hit (single) 1 walk and 1 RBI. Keira Davis had 1 hit (single) and 1 RBI. Izzy Dong had 2 hits. Skylar Hawes and Piper Barata each had 1 hit. With the score tied 5-5 in the top of the eighth inning, Veronica Quimet became the games hero as she hit a go-ahead double scoring Paisley Parisee to take a 6-5 lead and then Skylar Hawes singled, scoring Veronica Quimet for a 7-5 lead. With 2 outs and bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, Foothill Gold Stinson 2028 had the potential tying and winning runs on base but RI Thunder pitcher Bailey Cassin closed the opportunity by striking out the final batter to end the game and earn the win. RI Thunder 16U National Leclair won 14-6 against WA Angels 16U Gold Andrews/Benson that featured 6 batters who shined with a multi-hit game. Skylar Hawes hit 2 home runs, singled, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. Paisley Parisee had 2 hits (double, single) 1 walk and 4 RBIs. Lila Alvarez had 2 hits (2 singles) scored 1 run and 2 RBIs.
