Just two things I don’t like about the MacBook Neo. - no backlit keys is a miss imo - physical trackpads suck Everything else is pretty fcking elite.

@Vixlio @nirav_josh @markgurman Yearly improvements from M1 to M5 have been really good. Even upgrading the Vision Pro from M2 to M5 really improved pass through video quality. A new product category like iPhone doesn’t come along every year. The glasses…meh, AI? What is so groundbreaking that Apple missed?

Power On: Apple’s AirPods Max 2 is a prime example of a blurring line between marketing and actual innovation. My take on why giving the new model a “2” brand is a stretch. bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

@DylanMcD8 @AppleAlwaysWins You aren’t considering that the user may really like the clean simple design and price. That said…man the iPhone 17 was firing on all cylinders. It’s an incredible base iPhone. But compared to the first 5 years of iPhone these are so overpowered.

This is what happens when you brand your phone incorrectly. iPhone 17e should be iPhone SE, or something else not part of the 17 line.

I’m not exactly sure what people want me to say. Getting N1 for me is just to have another qualification. Lots of people who’ve lived and worked in Japan for years don’t have the JLPT. I have N2 which is the bare minimum of professional working fluency. Again, what’s the issue?

All I did was post about how I don’t see certain N1 grammar points often. I’ve worked in Japanese companies, I’m married to a Japanese person who doesn’t speak English, and I’ve played games like MGS1 in Japanese. I’m studying N1 to build on what I know. What’s the problem?

@Vixlio @markgurman This is a bit extreme. Innovation doesn’t need to come every year. That’s hard to do. MacBooks are amazing. Neo will bring in big sales and new mac users. Basic iPhone is rock solid. AirPods are great. iPads are incremental but solid

@markgurman Agreed Mark. Apple has struggled innovating in the past few years. I feel like their ecosystem is saving them from becoming BlackBerry.

I feel like people forget about the 15-inch MacBook Air. While the MacBook Neo and 13-inch MacBook Air have stolen the show over the past year, and the MacBook Pro also gets a ton of attention, the 15-inch is just kinda there. Kinda the sleeper hit of the lineup though.

@RjeyTech “Meaningful work” is subjective. Many people do meaningful work on computers that is not video editing and coding.

Getting a MacBook Neo today. I actually don’t think 8 GB of ram is enough in the long term for any sort of meaningful work. But we shall see how it holds up.

@hictor @theapplehub Actually they didn’t change the colors at all. They upgraded from the H1 chip to the H2 chip. That’s it but improves the sound quality and feature set.

@theapplehub Same weight, same battery, same design. Apple is literally just changing the colors and calling it a 'sequel' because they know people have no other choice in this ecosystem. It’s 2019 tech with a 2026 coat of paint. 🤡

@Marks_Tech I was looking at them at the Apple Store. It’s exploded the light into tiny prismatic dots that irritate the hell out of me (just as much if not more than reflections). I could never live with that downgrade in picture quality.

@mimicn393983 @s01 I wouldn’t say onigiri is fast food, it’s deli food. Fast food is cooked for you quickly. That’s the little soba and udon chains. You walk in, get ultra cheap soba noodles in broth, eat and go. It’s so fast.

@DylanMcD8 Man I wish I had Apple stock right now… And the Citrus is different but fresh. I don’t like the color of the indigo keys but they chose not to go pure white so it is what it is.

Finally went to the Apple Store to see the all the MacBook Neo colors. Citrus is awful, and Indigo is quite nice, but would be much better if the keyboard was a darker blue rather than a lighter blue. Blush, of course, remains the best color. The Neo table was very popular. Multiple people buying one. Asked the employee there, she said they've been selling like crazy and can't keep stock! I also overheard a customer correctly say that it has the same chip as his current iPhone and an employee incorrectly say that actually it's the same as the 17 line LOL Also the pink 17e is GORGEOUSSSSS

The hilarious part of AirPods Max 2 is they don't get an education discount. So if you're a student, you can get a MacBook Neo for $50 LESS

Here are my two cents - - Yes, it’s the newest Mac, so it makes sense to go for it and it fits in the budget quite easily. - Yes, it’s perfectly fine for everyday work. But here’s the catch people miss - it runs on the A18 chip, which is essentially an iPhone/iPad chip, not a high-performance Mac chip like the M-series. For a similar price, you can easily find M1 / M2 / even M3 Macs - and I’d pick those over the Neo any day. I used the base M1 MacBook Pro until last year before upgrading to the base M4 MacBook Pro, and my close friend still uses the M1 today - it runs flawlessly. Macs are built to last for years, if not decades. That’s the advantage of the M-series chips - performance and longevity. During sales, the MacBook Air M4 base model was available for almost the price of Neo post discounts - not sure about current pricing. Ultimately - M1 / M2 / M3 >>>> A18. Any day.
