@ArtistCyclist Poor skills on the part of the driver; inappropriate speed, poor obvs. Awful. Good as a case study. We can all learn. I do think safe overtaking of anything is becoming a lost art. As is reading (Highway Code in this case)

I was doing 32km/h (20mph) on a road with a 20mph speed limit and taking the lane because I don't want to be overtaken. This fuckwit close passes me at 40mph, with a lateral separation of around 65cm, all while approaching a red light.

A vehicle incursion on the beautiful St Ives line at Carbis Bay. @networkrailwest Truro Delivery Unit did a fantastic job resourcing a Quatro 360 and trailer so promptly. Trains were running again from 15.18. Great team work.

Keir Starmer gave this country something it badly needed - a Labour government that turned up for, and invested in, the West Midlands and places like it. He took over our party at one of its lowest points. He rebuilt it and brought Labour back into power. In government, he made choices that will change lives for years to come. He delivered the biggest advance in workers' rights for a generation. He gave renters real security in their own homes. And he took the decisions that are lifting children out of poverty. The past few months have been difficult. Keir carried the pressure of the job with dignity and decency. And those qualities mattered on the hard days as much as the good ones. I owe him a personal debt too, because he believed in me before I had won anything. When I stood to become Mayor he encouraged me and helped me find my feet in politics - brought me into meetings with current Mayors. I will always be grateful for the support he gave me. As Mayor, I saw what his leadership meant for the West Midlands. He never treated our region as an afterthought. He put people in No10 to work directly with us, on the things that change lives. Building the social homes families have waited years for. Tackling youth unemployment. Backing the transport, regeneration and infrastructure that will shape our region for years to come. He understood that power and investment had to reach communities that had waited too long for change. He listened to what the West Midlands needed and trusted us to deliver. Politics is brutal and it’s an unforgiving business - the constant want for simple answers to complex problems is a challenge our country needs to address. In all of this though, he never lost sight of why he entered public life. He believed politics could improve people's lives and he gave everything he had to make change. I want to thank Keir for his service to our country, for his friendship and for the support he gave me and the West Midlands.

June 20th 1982: Thatcher's decision to take back the South Sandwich Islands has been a smart move. In 1977 James Callaghan and David Owen had launched the futile Operation Journeyman, sending HMS Phoebe and HMS Dreadnought down there, achieving nothing... 1/2

Can someone explain to me the logic that @AndyBurnhamGM has used to conclude that by electing a @UKLabour MP (just as they did less than two years ago) the people of #Makerfield have “signalled they want change”? 🤣

So, since @Heidi_Labour (who I like very much) brought @LNRailway into public ownership the car park at Tamworth has gone up from £10.50 to £11.50 and the 0756 seems to be more often 5 car rather than the 10 cars it was. What’s happening?
