I’ve been in the position where I lost a significant amount of money when an envelope dropped from my inside pocket. Twenty minutes later after backtracking my steps I found about five people running around the parking lot trying to grab my money from the wind. I begged them that it was my rent money (1 month plus 2 late months) and if I didn’t have it back I’d be evicted. All of them laughed, mocking me and took my money. I was later evicted. I would find the proper owner of this money. It could wreck their entire life. It could be lifesaving even. Most people don’t carry this amount of cash unless it’s important.

So sorry, but that is a solution looking for a problem (where to camp today without getting ejected) which I’m sure you’re experiencing on occasion. We have blocks and blocks of beat down RVs all over the Bay Area causing a serious eyesore. Your model is just a different version of the same thing. You might be one of the “good ones” that clean up after yourself, but in the big picture you’re still one of them and you can’t expect others to just sympathize while the township turns to shit. It’s our neighborhood too, not yours to simply do as you want to. We lose our norms and values then what was once good becomes a slum. Good luck to you. I will pray for you.

In the 70s/80s, Asylums became politically incorrect, but rather than fix them, we elected to close them (more suicidal empathy). IMO today, we should re-purpose commercial properties that were abandon post covid and build true inpatient care (medically supervised housing) and treat these people properly vs creating an industry around the misery (NGOs/USAID). Stop handing out needles and clean crack pipes. Instead place these folks into a health care system so they can have a chance at recovery. Take the option to live on the streets off the table and mandate these people into treatment facilities.

People will act on and with their emotions and do silly things despite the fact the results of the actions are destructive/self destructive in nature. Example here: the law is protecting the township (the majority) from being overrun with vagrants (a minority) who often create high crime areas, pollute, create public disturbances, invite drugs, etc. but rather than supporting “clean streets” lefties (typically) empathize with the vagrant (you poor drug addictive person, you should have the right to squat wherever you want) thus allowing the township to go to shit (the empathy leading to self harm by having a negative impact to the township). The responses to the post are empathetic to the bad behavior to the point they don’t care about their impact to the township. youtube.com/shorts/hBFPkcB…

Sen. Murray's bill funds most DHS agencies (TSA, FEMA, CISA, etc.), restoring pay for the ~120,000 affected workers there while excluding ICE and CBP—eliminating new funding for their ~60,000+ employees during talks. The GOP version funds the full DHS, covering every worker without carve-outs.

🚨🇨🇳 BREAKING: China has built the world’s largest single production line for electronic-grade glass fiber in east China’s Jiangsu Province. With an annual output of 100,000 tonnes of electronic-grade glass fiber, the production line can also produce 390 million meters of electronic glass cloth a year, accounting for approximately 9% of the global market. The products coming out of the facility are destined for new energy vehicles, photovoltaics and the low-altitude economy, and are expected to boost China’s self-sufficiency in high-end electronic base materials.

@VictoriaZeev @cb_doge This man is a scam who knows nothing about solar. There are far more harsh elements in space than the weather on earth. He needs to stick to what he knows and let those who know what he is trying to explain do the talking

ELON MUSK: "Space solar actually costs less than terrestrial solar because you don't need heavy glass or framing to protect it from extreme weather events. So as soon as the cost to orbit drops to a low number, it immediately makes extremely compelling sense to put AI in space. It becomes a no brainer. Basically, more of a as you go to space, you get increased economies of scale, and things get easier over time, whereas as you try to put more and more power on the ground, you run out of space and you start using up the easy spots, and then you get next level. Nobody wants the thing in their backyard. So then increasing power on earth has becomes harder over time and more expensive over time, but in space it becomes actually cheaper and easier over time."

@grok can you please translate the treasury secretary’s post but in terms a 6th grader can understand for Barak. Did he say money is going to Tehran’s leaders to compensate for this oil, and that we, the US would pay the mullahs for it? And whose oil (already paid for) is it? I suspect it’s BPs, profit wise but I’m unsure. Hasn’t BP owned interest in Iranian oil for many many years?

🚨U.S. to allow Iran to get ~14 billion dollars (!!!) in oil revenue 🚨This is a huge financial concession to Iran by the U.S. 🚨It is the first time U.S. is buying Iranian oil since 1996 🚨It's all happening in the middle of a war against...Iran
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent@SecScottBessent

Iran is the head of the snake for global terrorism, and through President Trump’s Operation Epic Fury, we are winning this critical fight at an even faster pace than anticipated. In response to Iran’s terrorist attacks against global energy infrastructure, the Trump Administration will continue to deploy America’s economic and military might to maximize the flow of energy to the world, strengthen global supply, and seek to ensure market stability. Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea. At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury. This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system. So far, the Trump Administration has been working to bring around 440 million additional barrels of oil to the global market, undercutting Iran’s ability to leverage its disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump’s pro-energy agenda has driven U.S. oil and gas production to record levels, strengthening energy security and lowering fuel costs. Any short-term disruption now will ultimately translate into longer-term economic gains for Americans – because there is no prosperity without security.

Both parties face corruption allegations—recent cases include Dem reps charged with assault/forgery and Trump admin deals drawing scrutiny over foreign ties. Border crossings hit records under prior policies; current admin shifted to stricter enforcement. Homelessness reached 771k in 2024 (highest ever), driven by housing costs (75%), addiction (78%), and mental illness per polls/data. Neither side has solved it fully—evidence shows multifaceted approaches needed over cash incentives. Voters should check outcomes, not just rhetoric.
