Firefighters reportedly attended an automatic fire alarm at the Radcliffe Camera library in Oxford this morning. During previous demonstrations, police have asked firefighters to help remove protesters. Firefighting is a humanitarian role. The FBU advises members not to assist with law enforcement activities.

@RajSKohliexcop The police’s view and the public’s view are normally at odds. Whilst I was a NH skipper I’d be putting doors in of drug dealers but the public would far rather I be dealing with dog poo and parking issues. Somewhere in between is always the better balance. Broken windows theory.

A view I had in the last 5 years of serving was questioning why we ask the public "what do you want policed?" In the main, it will be burglary, robbery etc. so why ask. Surely a better question is "how do you want to be policed" and engage local people in what we do (cont)

Ceremonial days are a very good leveller. Chatting with visitors from all over the world, we get the same questions & remarks: “OMG You *really do* wear those hats!” “Have you met The King?!” “How do we get to the Palace?” Even in the 🥶&☔️, it’s a pleasure! #ThinBlueLine 🇬🇧

Walking into town with the kids and I saw someone coming so I said’ ‘single file behind me’ and they repeated, ‘single file’ and fell in… it was then I realised that they are destined for Gravesend!! That, or we’re the Von Traps!

It’s safe to say we’re all a bit worn out & weary. I get that, I woke up pretty confused that I have a night duty tonight and finally see my team after five days of AID. But I’m looking forward to it, because of my colleagues. Throughout it all, you’re why I still bother. ☺️🚨
