@HouseJudiciary I am old enough to remember Kayleigh McEnany presenting Lesley Stahl with a GIANT binder, on camera, and saying "President Trump wanted me to show you his health care plan." Why not dust that off and present it to Dems? Or could it be she was...LYING?

@atrupar Because he was normalized by the media as a legitimate candidate for the past four years. They treated his crimes as "political differences" and covered him accordingly, versus reminding the audience at every turn what he did and who he was.

A failed president who incited a coup attempt and then was found liable of sexual assault and then was convicted of felonies won the popular vote and electoral college. I still haven’t seen a satisfactory explanation. Probably never will.

@GregTSargent Not only that, but aren't all these tariffs meant to offset his proposed tax cuts? So if this is just a pressure tactic, how is he going to fund his tax cuts if Canada and Mexico capitulate?

This is getting overlooked, but the whole premise of Trump's threat of tariffs is based on a lie. He's claiming Mexico must be bullied into stopping migrants. But Mexico is *already* doing this. That's a big reason crossings have dropped. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/188854…

The Dept of Justice allowing an OLC opinion - not a law or SCOTUS ruling - dictate that a sitting POTUS can’t be criminally charged is an abdication of duty and one of the reasons why people have lost faith in our justice system’s ability to hold powerful people accountable.

Yes, I’m disappointed in Merrick Garland, Jack Smith, & SCOTUS. But mostly I’m disappointed in the 76 million Americans who said “no big deal” and voted for a candidate who, just 4yrs ago, lost an election, refused to concede, and then actually committed crimes trying to overthrow that election. The fact that 76 million Americans didn’t find THAT disqualifying will always be my biggest disappointment.

Either 1) Trump is terrible at vetting, or 2) Trump is deliberately putting up dirty nominees — people with big flaws, scandals, allegations, etc — so he can lord it over them and demand absolute loyalty I’m leaning toward 2 — what about you?

🚨🚨Musk, Ramaswamy today gave us first "DOGE" roadmap; as I understand the key steps...: 1) Put DOGE ppl at each U.S. agency, then use "advanced technology" (AI?) to have them identify "thousands" of regulations to cut across government 2) Give Trump a list of "thousands" of regs to cut across the government, & have him approve their elimination 3) Identify "the minimum number of employees" necessary to maintain each agency's core function, which should be lower once 2 is complete. (NB: Musk oversaw ~80% reduction in X headcount) 4) Cut the federal employees - Musk/Ramaswamy call for for severance packages/ "incentives for early retirement," but we have no details 5) Cut programs where where Congress's specific spending authorization has lapsed (This category includes VA health care, NASA, antipoverty programs) 6) Approve a "temporary suspension of payments" amid "large-scale audits" (Details, specifics hugely unclear) 7) Assert POTUS authority to stop spending w/o Congressional approval by challenging 1974 budget law on impoundments All seems to be *w/o Congress* Fight whatever you need to in courts washingtonpost.com/business/2024/…

Apparently he has never heard of an algorithm, or how Musk has manipulated it to kill speech and tilt the discourse toward misinformation and extremism. In a free market, we can choose another product. Right? Dean Phillips is a fundamentally unserious person.

To all the progressives fleeing @X, how in the world will you understand how half our country feels if you only congregate with the like-minded? That’s what got us into this mess in the first place. So stick around. Engage in some debate. Make your case. Learn different perspectives.

@503i7 @JoshEakle Of course it will. First, because even domestically produced products use foreign components (which will be more expensive). Second, because if the prices of similar goods go up, domestic producers will take that as a cue to raise theirs to match.

Higher prices are coming. Walmart is preparing to raise prices if Trump delivers on his tariffs promises. Walmart CFO: "We never want to raise prices... But there probably will be cases where prices will go up for consumers." He added, “Tariffs, though, are inflationary for customers... [and they] certainly would add product costs." Remember kids, foreign countries don't pay the tariffs. You pay the tariffs.

Lifetime limits: Insurance companies in America used to have lifetime limits for how much healthcare they would cover. If your care needs hit the limit, they would stop paying for it. Forever. The Affordable Care Act ended this.
