For quality of life, it is better to err on the side of being an optimist and wrong, rather than a pessimist and right

It’s the same reason that people swung sithes in the field, worked the weaving looms and as human calculators. Jobs are a product of the technology of any given era. Technology removed the need for those jobs just as it will for factory work. The history of technological advance is that jobs change and human flourishing increases.

@gamunch48 @MorePerfectUS At the start of the industrial revolution 90% of the population were farmers, now it's less than two percent and we all have groceries. Technology changes jobs but increases abundance.

@KyleKulinski How dare we let them take away the ultimate in human fulfillment which is to work half of ones waking hours in a factory. How will humans find meaning?!!!

Jeff Bezos, worth $234 billion, plans to replace 600,000 Amazon workers with robots. Now, he wants to spend $100 billion to fully automate not just his warehouses, but factories in the U.S & other countries. Oligarchs are waging all out war against workers. FIGHT BACK.

If we don’t eat the rich, they will continue to consume us. It’ll never be enough for people like Bezos. Never enough money, acquisitions, or power, no matter the cost to the human life around him. He and every other billionaire are parasitic sociopaths.

@R89Capital Serious question: Isn't automating jobs that can be automated a historical pattern since the industrial revolution? Hasn't this process largely been a net benefit, given that people now earn 100x more in inflation-adjusted dollars than 100 years ago.

Super villain shit UBI is going to be necessary, but who will pay for it? The giant tech companies putting tens of millions out of work *should* pay for it.. But the reality is likely just higher and higher taxes on the remaining workforce until they just snap and burn the entire country to the ground

I've decided that not a single acre of mountain land, agricultural land, forest, or wild desert is worth sacrificing for AI data centers. No river, no lake, no reservoir should be touched to maintain them.

🚨 Let me explain what Jeff Bezos is actually doing here.. > He already automated the warehouse workers with 750,000+ robots.. replaced checkout cashiers with cameras.. tested drone delivery.. built robots that move faster than humans.. > Now he's raising $100 billion to BUY entire manufacturing companies.. not to run them.. to automate them.. he's not investing in factories.. he's buying them to empty them.. > This is a man who built Amazon by undercutting every small business in America.. who crushed bookstores, malls, and retail chains.. who made same-day delivery possible by burning through workers so fast they literally ran out of people to hire in some cities.. > And now he's coming for the last thing left.. the factory floor.. the one place people said "AI can't do this.. you need human hands".. $100 billion.. not to create jobs.. to buy the companies that have them and remove the people inside.. your factory job survived the recession.. survived outsourcing.. survived COVID.. it won't survive a billionaire with a shopping list and a robot..

No. Sen. Mullin said he "understands completely why" Paul's neighbor assaulted him in 2017 (breaking ribs, damaging lung), calling Paul a "freaking snake" over policy fights. He claimed he told Paul this to his face. At yesterday's DHS confirmation hearing, Mullin stood by "I can understand why your neighbor did what he did" due to Paul's behavior but never said "deserves" or apologized. Paul interpreted it as justification.

There's a difference between right and wrong. Every one knows this is wrong and few have spoken up. Rand Paul had to have part of his lung removed after he was assaulted. Unreal we would promote someone who advertises violence as the answer when they have a political disagreement.
Senator Rand Paul@SenRandPaul

"So, today, Markwayne Mullin, I’ll give you a chance. Tell it to my face. Tell the world why you believe I deserved to be assaulted from behind, have six ribs broken, and a damaged lung. Tell me to my face why you think I deserved it."
