It’s the same reason that people swung sithes in the field, worked the weaving looms and as human calculators. Jobs are a product of the technology of any given era. Technology removed the need for those jobs just as it will for factory work. The history of technological advance is that jobs change and human flourishing increases.

@R89Capital Serious question: Isn't automating jobs that can be automated a historical pattern since the industrial revolution? Hasn't this process largely been a net benefit, given that people now earn 100x more in inflation-adjusted dollars than 100 years ago.

Super villain shit UBI is going to be necessary, but who will pay for it? The giant tech companies putting tens of millions out of work *should* pay for it.. But the reality is likely just higher and higher taxes on the remaining workforce until they just snap and burn the entire country to the ground
