In 1931, a 24-year-old Oxford graduate walked into MI5 & quietly became one of Britain’s most formidable experts on Soviet espionage. She would later warn MI5 about the traitor Kim Philby & impress the director of the American FBI. This is the story of Millicent Bagot: (🧵)

It wd really help, 5 months after my mother died unexpectedly, to not be sent unsolicited suggestions from companies wanting to sell me mother's day gifts. Gawd. 💔

I want to live in a warm place without memories. I will open a small bookstore where I will offer coffee and tea, I will buy a scooter and every day after I close the bookstore I will get on the scooter and go to the hill above the village with a small basket with a sandwich, a bottle of water and a book. I will spread a small blanket, I will sit and read a book and I will watch how the wind blows my washed clothes hung on a rope on the seashore.

Today was spent amongst the trees. We set off on a mission to find treebeard, and found him we did! What a pleasure it was to be amongst the giants.. 🌳🌳 #treeclub #treebeard @WoodlandNomad

Just scrolling through my photos and I still really like this one. The moon seen through the Bethnal Green gasholders. I stepped on deck whilst moored there and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this gorgeous scene. Taken on my phone in case you wondered.

That's me done on here. The owner is an obnoxious narcissist whose incendiary language is going to get someone killed. The algorithm is dominated by abhorrent far-right blue ticks. It's not a pleasant place to be anymore. Sad, because I've enjoyed my time here for the most part.

I’ve been quiet here, partly because of how the site has changed, but also because I’m sat on a number of ridiculously exciting projects that I can’t really share. But I’m going to start teasing some further bits of info and hope you’ll stick with me. Come on 2025! Sending love x

Ship’s biscuits. Flour, salt & water. Bake until rock hard. 5 hours or more. Useful for long sea voyages & conquering the world. In the 15th century activity in the naval bakehouses looked on as a sign of impending military action. Interesting?
