@systemantix arguably only sector of tech that "needs" a union is people who work for game dev studios
would say though, even at startups it's good to have a healthy dynamic of workers vs owners, and having representation can't be a bad thing

I think the direction siri etc. have taken is just a bit limited, lacking so much context that we take for granted in conversation

best pattern I've seen for changing the way we interact with tech, is to make tech simpler (i.e. do one thing really well)
this sort of goes against how we currently see phones as cameras/web browser/entertainment

Not sure how/if mastodon will work with multiple niche instances. Reminds me of the way discord servers work.

I'm late to the game but I just learned that you get a different local feed depending on which Mastodon server you join… So which server do cool front-end/JavaScript people hang out at?

Some personal news: after a pretty uncertain and stressful process, our Japan visa was extended for a year.
We will probably use this year to prepare our return to France though. Kyoto will always be my favorite place on the planet, but it feels like the right time to go back.
