@605tokenpodcast @redl3tters Like a head-up display in a fighter aircraft? That sounds cool. I've only recently started driving. I was always the navigator and did a good job. I'm using Waze at the moment, random route recalculations are annoying

@redl3tters Rented a car that had the GPS display show up on the lower part of the windshield and it was amazing. It was so natural and was not at all distracting.

My parents follow a standard procedure anytime they’re driving to unknown territory: -Dad drives -Mom pulls up directions on her phone -Mom calls out turns along the way This inevitably leads to constant, petty bickering throughout the ride. “You didn’t tell me where to turn!” “That’s because you’re driving too fast!” “I don’t know what 'right there' means! Tell me the name of the street!” “You keep talking and I can’t pay attention to the map!” And so on and so on. (And so on.) For years, they have done this while a large, Bluetooth-enabled, navigation-ready screen is positioned inches away, in their nice Lexus SUV, ready at any time to connect to a phone which would then conveniently display the route on screen. I once offered to set this up for them. They quickly hand-waved the idea and proceeded as usual. Married 40 years and still going strong. Marital foundations are built on bizarre customs that outsiders simply cannot understand. Never interrupt a bickering couple while they’re enacting one of the routines that holds it all together.

A study from 2012 found that "Boys were more likely to be in lower-quality child care than girls, assessed with both setting-level measures and observations of caregiver-child interaction." The mostly women caregivers thought the boys were worse and acting up, and so they treated them worse, but independent observers did not think the boys were acting difficult. Grown women who mistreat boys and give them less care because of imagined offenses.

SHE REPORTED 1,400 CHILDREN BEING RAPED. THEY INVESTIGATED HER. Jayne Senior @Jes123tia456 spent 14 years as manager of Risky Business, a Rotherham Council project for vulnerable young women. For 14 years she handed evidence of systematic child sexual exploitation to police and social services. Names. Dates. Patterns. A 42-page intelligence report. She built the jigsaw piece by piece. They shut down her programme. They told her the records were rubbish. They told her she was rocking the multicultural boat. They told her the children were consenting. Children. Ten years old. She risked prosecution to become the source for Times journalist Andrew Norfolk, whose 2012 investigations finally broke the story open to the nation. The Jay Report in 2014 confirmed what she had been screaming into the void since the late 1990s: at least 1,400 children had been abused in Rotherham. Jayne got an MBE in 2016. The council got reputational damage it spent years managing. The officers got their pensions. When she filed complaints with the IOPC about senior police officers who had done nothing, the watchdog warned her that if she kept going, she would be labelled a vexatious complainant and could face imprisonment. She kept going. Her complaint was eventually upheld in 2021. The report naming the officers was never published. South Yorkshire Police @SYPTweet rejected the watchdog's findings. No officers were named. No further action was taken. Someone did warn her the officers might sue her personally if she spoke about it publicly. She spoke about it publicly. This is what accountability looks like in Britain. A youth worker risks prison to protect children. The institutions that failed those children close ranks, bury the reports, and threaten the one person who kept records. The children were the problem, apparently. Not the men. Not the police. Not the council. The woman with the filing cabinet. Source: The Times @thetimes, @BBC, @guardian , @yorkshirepost, Jay Report 2014, IOPC Operation Amazon 2022

SHE NAMED THE ABUSERS. THEY SENT HER ON A DIVERSITY COURSE. In 2001, solicitor Adele Weir was hired by Rotherham Council on a Home Office programme to research child sexual exploitation in the area. What she found was horrifying. Her ten-page mapping exercise named suspects, listed car registrations, and linked 54 abused children to one family. She estimated 270 victims at that point alone. She took her findings to senior South Yorkshire Police (@syptweet) officers. They told her the report was unhelpful. A police commander accused her of making up stories and deliberately lying. She was told to anonymise individuals and institutions. She was told she and her colleagues were exceeding their roles. Then files were stolen from the Risky Business office where she worked. No broken locks. No broken windows. A computer had been accessed. A police officer stopped her in her car and told her, in no uncertain terms, that people knew where she lived. Her work was sidelined. By 2007 the operation around her had effectively collapsed. Her reports were finally released by South Yorkshire Police (@syptweet) in 2015, only after a Freedom of Information request. The Jay Report, published in 2014, found that approximately 1,400 children had been abused in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013. It concluded that by 2005 it was hard to believe senior officers and elected members were not aware of the problem. Zero senior officials were prosecuted. Zero. A researcher identified the abuse network in 2001 with names, car plates, and victim counts. The institution's response was to bury the paperwork and threaten the person who wrote it. This scene from The Matrix is getting more relevant with each passing year. "Do not try and bend the spoon—that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth..." If you accept the parameters of the world as presented to you, not only are you being deceived, but you are rendering yourself powerless to change them. Power comes from questioning what you're told is unquestionable. This is not purely a spiritual or philosophical position any longer, but a practical approach when dealing with a constructed media reality. "There is no spoon."

Here's where this goes... Firstly, kiss successful insurance claims goodbye. Any accident will be blamed on "sub-optimal driver performance", and that time your hands moved briefly from the 10-and-2 or your eyeline wasn't correctly picked up by the mirror sensor will be used to blame your fender-bender on you. Secondly, there will be a big "people drive dangerously" propaganda push. "ADDW data harvesting has shown up 80% of us might be driving more recklessly than we think", or "most veteran drivers slip in to bad habits, reports show". Then comes the new legislation to act on this totally fabricated problem. What is it? Oh, it's re-certification. Every driver has to be re-certified after X years on the road. Or maybe your driver monitoring data will be uploaded to a database and scanned for errors. Those errors put points on your license and if you go over a certain number of points, your ability to drive is taken away pending recertification. You can appeal, and drive while the appeal takes place. But the appeal fee is greater than the recertification fee, and if you lose, you have to pay legal costs, and you're not allowed to drive for double the usual amount of time. You'll have to pay a "processing" fee for re-certifying, of course, and if you fail, you'll have to wait X amount of months before you can try again. Headlines will celebrate both the (fictional) decrease in traffic fatalities and that the smaller number of private vehicles on the road has improved the pollution levels in the inner cities. An opinion piece from an anonymous "former driver" will appear in the Guardian "I lost my drivers license, and it's the best thing that ever happened to me". It will talk up how much money they're saving on petrol and road tax, and how much fitter they get walking everywhere and how they know their neighbours so well now. And all sorts of cosy anecdotes about the charming characters and life-affirming tableaux that public transport exposes you to.

🇪🇺 From July 2026, a new EU regulation will require all new cars to include driver-surveillance systems (ADDW), using interior cameras to track eye movement, head position and attention levels to detect “distraction or drowsiness.” The systems are designed for in-car safety alerts, with data processed in real time within the vehicle. @AussieAlex27 @TruthFairy131 @lauren_vasiliou You’re correct. An automatic 3 game suspension for a straight red, also you’ll likely be brought before the local football association and given a 5 year suspension and a fine for the club hence not a recommended action although it would be funny as hell.

Women told that they have to play against the LGBTQ+ Sydney Team that contains 5 men. One of these men broke a woman’s leg in 2 places during a game. Women have been told that they are not allowed to protest, forfeit games, express their fears or concerns because the feelings of these men matters more than these women’s safety. THIS IS ABUSE 😡

📢 Blackpool From a local resident Please be cautious when taking your children to Bancroft Park in Blackpool. Today we noticed a man sitting alone at the park for hours watching children. He later appeared to follow two young girls who was roughly about 11/12 years old towards the football pitch area before changing direction once he realised adults were watching him. Police were contacted due to concerns over his behaviour, and a few adults asked him to leave the park as he was frightening children. He eventually slowly walked away from the park, but was then seen hiding behind bushes on the bridge still watching children from there. Please keep an extra eye on your children and stay aware of your surroundings. This is the man please share and make people aware

Why do film and television companys making historical dramas take so much trouble to get the details correct, such as the costumes, the buildings, the scenery, the interior decoration, the props and (more recently) the vehicles only to cast a black woman as the landlady of a Taunton pub in 1763 or a Pakistani man as the local magistrate in Shrewsbury in 1901 or a random Chinese kid in a school classroom in 1867 or an Indian bloke as the local vicar in 1568?
