Just learnt that in many families in Maharashtra, the family avoids the favorite foods of a person who passed away for one year. Does it exist in your culture as well ?

आज महान कलाकार निळू फुले यांची जयंती. नीळकंठ कृष्णाजी फुले उर्फ - निळू फुले , त्यांची मुलगी गार्गी फुले म्हणतात “बाई वाड्यावर या असं बाबांनी एकाही चित्रपटात म्हटलेलं नाही” ही चूकिची प्रतिमा आताच्या पिढीत केली गेली आहे. खरंतर निळू भाऊ एक स्वातंत्र्यसैनिक होते, भावा सोबत 10-12 वर्षाच्या वयात "चले जाव आंदोलनात" सहभागी झाले, इंग्रजी पोलिसांचा मार खाल्ला, यासाठी ते येरवड्यात गेले. लहानपणी पासूनच ते प्रखर देशभक्त होते. चित्रपट सृष्टी मधील कामगारांसाठी निळू भाऊंनी आंदोलन केले. निळूभाऊ महान समाजवादी नेते थोर स्वातंत्र्यसेनानी राममनोहर लोहिया यांचे व साने गुरुजी यांचे अनुयायी होते. निळू भाऊ प्रागतिक विचाराचे समाजवादी कार्यकर्ते होते. अभिनया सोबत सामाजिक भान जपणारे व्यक्ती म्हणून त्यांची ओळख होती. साने गुरुजी यांनी स्थापन केलेल्या राष्ट्र सेवा दलाचे ते कर्मशील कार्यकर्ते होते. त्यासोबतच निळू भाऊनी अंधश्रद्धा निर्मूलन समितीत त्यानी काम करून स्वातंत्र्योत्तर काळात अंधश्रद्धेत पिचलेल्या ग्रामीण व शहरी जनतेच प्रबोधन करण्याच काम केलं. पंढरपूरच्या विठ्ठल मंदिरात दलितांना प्रवेश मिळावा म्हणून सत्याग्रहात सहभागी झाले. गोवा मुक्ती संग्रामात सत्याग्रही साठी भाकरी जमवण्याचे काम केले. मोरारजी देसाईने सावंतवाडी ते गोवा एसटी बंद केल्याने मधु दंडवते यांच्यासोबत आंदोलनात 75 मैल चालले. संयुक्त महाराष्ट्र आंदोलनात इंदिरा गांधी यांची गाडी अडवली म्हणून पोलीसांचा मार खाल्ला. असे निळू भाऊ आमचे आदर्श आहेत. साने गुरुजी, शांता शेळके, आचार्य अत्रे, पु.ल. देशपांडे, मधु दंडवते, डॉ. श्रीराम लागू, राम नगरकर, जयंत दळवी, व्यंकटेश माडगूळकर, अशा अनेक दिग्गज लोकासोबत वावरले, काम केलं. चित्रपटात जसे हरहुन्नरी तसेच सामाजिक जीवनात सुद्धा हरहुन्नरी राहिले. राष्ट्र सेवा दलाच कलापथक चालवल. कलेतून प्रबोधन करण्याचा त्यांचा पिंड होता. मेकप रूम मध्येही पुस्तक वाचणारा, पुस्तकप्रेमी, सतत वाचन, चिंतन, मनन करणारा एक समाजवादी अवलिया. आपल्याला वा आजच्या पिढीला निळू भाऊ फक्त चित्रपट पुरते, किंवा चित्रपटात भूमिका निभावलेल्या अय्याश शोषक सरंजामदार रुपात ठाऊक आहेत. पण ते व्यक्तीगत जीवनात अत्यंत संवेदनशील माणूस होते. समाजभान जाणारे कलाकार होते. निळू फुले याना जयंतीनिमित्त आदरपूर्वक वंदन! #मराठी #महाराष्ट्र

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj fought for hindawi swaraj, not some modern version of secularism. ​VFX cannot replace the तेज (aura) required to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Riteish Deshmukh lacks the vibe; it feels like a filtered performance. He lacks the raw intensity and physique which the role demands. If you want to see Maharaj brought to life with dignity and power, look at actor Sharad Kelkar, he captured the soul of the King. I will pass this.
