Lots of car accidents with drivers not realizing that the roads are more slippery than usual. Wet snow freezing on the roads is a bad combo for trying to drive around.
Almost that time of year. Hanging out near Carseland watching some convective clouds. Timelapse ending 4:13pm. Here's to a great 2026 for all of the Canadian farmers! 🙏 #abstorm
@BadWeatherKyle Excellent writeup! We have our indoor RH hanging around 40% at home with our humidifier running. I ordered a hydrometer to check what it is at work.
@Skye_Borg@PappenheimWx If the dew point depression is too large then the fog would dissipate too quickly. I actually find these are more visible when there is a small dewpoint depression and of course the greater the difference between the water temp and ambient air temperature the better.
It’s more like a small thermal or dust devil sized event and the winds look to be very mild on par with those common phenomena found in the summer and spring with high temp to dew point spreads. I would bet a lot of money there was a huge temp to dew point spread when this video was taken.
An outbreak of stunning fognados occurred on the outskirts of Rolling Fork, Mississippi this afternoon. I’ve never witnessed anything like this in my life 😲
Gosh that rental was way too clean. Look at this beautiful Prairie and Plains dirt layer. I’ve been everywhere man. … I've been to Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota
Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota
Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma
Tampa, Panama, Mattawa, La Paloma
Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo
Tocapillo, Baranquilla, and Perdilla. I’ve been everywhere man.
@MorganLaidler@joshclassenCTV@bshepherd05 Curious.. any idea why it is called Oliver? If I search for Oliver, Alberta on Google maps it comes up with the area on the west side of downtown Edmonton which is nowhere near where the station is.
@lightningmanAB@joshclassenCTV@bshepherd05 Aaaahh, there it is.
I came to the conclusion that it’s likely at the Crop Diversification centre as it’s an Albertan government area not accessible to the public, just couldn’t figure out where in the compound they’re located. So thanks for pointing that out.
@joshclassenCTV@bshepherd05 For the life of me, I cannot figure out where exactly that weather station is located.
The coordinates put kinda off Fort road but the map can’t bring up the exact spot.
I had a lot of clouds overnight, but still had a nice clear ‘window’ to capture this #aurora storm. After clouds reappeared, notice how the colours changed from green and pink to blue and purple. Vulcan County, Alberta #astronomy
Too many headlines to follow, and really feels like something even bigger is about to go down.
Let's lighten up the place a bit. Send me pics of anything that makes you happy...places, pets, anything
@Brad_In_YYC@BadWeatherKyle Funny, I called it a "short blizzard" as well when talking to someone in Ontario about it. I feel like it is worthy of the name "blizzard" even if the duration for meeting the criteria was a little bit short. At least we surpassed the Australian criteria for a blizzard. 😆
@BadWeatherKyle Maybe a short blizzard? Blizzard-like or snow squall feels like it downplays the situation a bit, you know? Blizzard tells people BOOM THIS IS BAADDDD! At least in my mind.
You're experiencing blowing snow, but does it meet the criteria for a true "blizzard"? 🌨️
Think of the rule of "4s":
✅ Visibility of 400 metres or less in falling/blowing snow
✅ Sustained winds of 40km/h or more
✅ These conditions persisting for at least 4 hours
Here's the temperature rollercoaster in Calgary over the past week...
Up to 8°C, down to -22°C, up to 12°C, down to -13°C
...And we're not done rollercoastering.
Move to Calgary, they said. It'd be fun, they said. #yyc#abstorm
