@NSchwartzTech I loved editing with Ss papers wrote for english & science. I ignored the spelling & grammar. I focused on argumentation & research... my lens on my discipline with the Ss... then we Ts debriefed/laughed about new iterations we created for each other through Ss. #emintsEdChat

A4: During ELA class, we would look at our text for text structure and text based pieces. We would then delve into the content and get to the meat of it in our content area class. Made it great since they were seeing text multiple times #emintsEdChat

A4: ...by moving 2 units, we found the root words I overwhelmed myself with aligned & then citations, graphs, infographics. Suddenly students thought they were cheating by double dipping. We let them think that and smiled when they turned in the same paper twice. #emintsEdChat

A4: ...then, another first year english teacher took that position. As the veteran, I asked how I could help. That teacher showed me the map they intended to use that year. I suddenly wasn't alone... #emintsEdChat

A4: Personally, it took years to take that essential step. I taught latin and greek roots for years in my science classroom silos. I proudly focused on my own terms to break them down for kids... #emintsEdChat

A4: Integrating literacy across curriculum is so easily embedded, that one has to intentionally avoid it or ignore its impact. Recognizing how language builds communication in all disciplines is only the first step. Communicating that you notice is essential. #emintsEdChat

A2: Literacy extends beyond the written and spoken word. It is access to a culture otherwise unavailable. Scientific Literacy and ASL are embedded in my life and challenge my definitions on literacy daily. #emintsEdChat
