My mom always takes two sets of pictures at holidays. One with girlfriends, and one without (my sister’s married now). She gives them a chance, but has a back up plan too.

@Roto_Wan @amicsta No kidding since that would effectively be a fully automated system. Imagine making all the high risk challenges automatically overturned but still making any blatant missed calls have to be overturned manually? Goofiest take I've heard on abs lol

@amicsta As a huge proponent of fully automated, I'd honestly be fine with the current system with one improvement: any call more than one baseball width in or out of the zone gets automatically overturned with no action necessary.

While I have resigned myself to the reality that baseball will eventually have a fully-automated strike zone, I think we will always look back on this current system as peak. Still allows room for the art of catcher framing, and exposes an instant villain (the umpire) every game. The fans love it, there’s an excitement with every potential missed call. A roar when a home strikeout is overturned akin to a masterful chip-in at Augusta. 10/10 no notes.

@JennMGreenberg I do get her point about wondering if Jesus ever experienced that particular wound. If it centers around the not knowing and if God is all knowing how would he experience that? Obviously, if he is all knowing then he understands but has he experienced it? Idk. Wrestle worthy imo

This is so sad. I have thought similar thoughts. At some point or another, we wrestle with God as Jacob did. He isn’t a genie. He doesn’t usually do what we want in the timeframe we’d like. But your faith will never be stronger than after you’ve wrestled with God. He will not leave you. He will not forsake you. And he watched his only Son be nailed to a cross and murdered. So, he absolutely knows how we feel. There is no grief he does not understand. Pray for the Guthrie family.
Variety@Variety

Savannah Guthrie says she's “questioned whether Jesus really ever experienced this particular wound that I feel" in an emotional Easter Sunday message: "We celebrate today the promise of a new life that never ends in death. But standing here today, I have to tell you, there are moments in which that promise seems irretrievably far away, when life itself seems far harder than death. These moments of deep disappointment with God, the feeling of utter abandonment for most of us, there will come a time in our life when these feelings hold sway.” variety.com/2026/tv/news/s…

Person born after 2000 assuming recent pic. Old enough for wallet with ID so before 2010. Next to last number is 6. 3rd to last number is 4 Last number 1-8. M(1) is 4 or 5. M(2) is 1-3 Day born is 10, 20 or 30 If I knew local, could narrow down further. There would not be that many combinations to try. Sorry the ‘-tism’ kicked in.

@JennMGreenberg I don't disagree but also, the feasibility of pulling your kid from their school varies a lot from family to family. I agree parents/family need to step in however they can but a significant step for one family could be a legitimate mountain for another.

@BaseballWRLD_ I agree with the principal but I do wonder if system is even accurate enough to overturn pitches that close. I'm picturing that tennis fiasco on clay where the computer obviously got it wrong. I wonder what checks and balances are in place or possible for the abs.

I’ll never understand why there are people who think pitches this close shouldn’t be overturned by ABS The ball is touching the zone. It’s a strike. The player should be rewarded for challenging a pitch that close and being correct.

34% of the audience thinking an NFL team would beat an MLB team in baseball once is depressingly stupid. The Broncos would go 0-162 and get no-hit nearly every game. They may score 5-10 runs over the course of the whole season.
Zach Bye@byesline

I can’t believe I’m even going to ask this but we’re having a split debate behind the scenes at station… If the Denver Broncos played the Colorado Rockies 162 times would the football players win a single game?

@garonnevik I don't really see it that way. I see it as maybe the older son also felt hurt by the younger son leaving and he wasnt ready to forgive as quickly as is father was and/or he felt like his choices at least deserved a similar response from his father.

In the story of the prodigal son, the older brother seethes in jealousy for doing all the right things. Yet he’s not being celebrated the same way as his brother who despised his father yet returned in desperation and got a party. Let’s unpack that jealousy a moment. This son worked alongside his father. Everything the father had was his. But make no mistake, the father was the prize. He got to BE WITH the father. He got to do his work. He got to be a part of the fruit of that work. He got everything the father called “good.” And he thought (my paraphrase) “what’s the point? I could have had prostitutes too!” He wasn’t despising his brother, he was despising his father. His father had given him himself and everything he had, and the older brother was jealous that the younger son got prostitutes on top of all that. He wasn’t jealous of the party, he was jealous of the sin he missed out on. He thought the father was holding out on him. He was right back in Eden, thinking the Father was keeping something good from him. He didn’t want the father. He wanted the sin, and he called evil good, and good evil. That was the core of his resistance to celebrate with the son—despising the life he had with the father, and thinking of it as “lesser” than the life the prodigal “got to have” as the prodigal ran back, desperate, broken, and naked. He thought “I could have had that.”
