Dear friends,
I genuinely thought racism had come to an end within the retro and FPGA gaming scene. I’ve been covering retro and FPGA gaming on YouTube for almost five years now, and for the most part, the community has been welcoming and passionate. But unfortunately, there are still people deeply invested in hate.
Growing up in London during the 1980s and 1990s, I experienced a lot of racism as a kid. Thankfully, things improved massively after around 1995, and over time society became far more accepting and multicultural. That’s partly why it has been disappointing to still come across this kind of behaviour within parts of the retro gaming scene in 2026.
When I first started my YouTube journey, a group of developers approached me and shared their early work with me. It was genuinely exciting being part of that early creative energy. They would even ask me to showcase videos on my channel, which I was always happy to support.
However, once they discovered my ethnicity, I noticed a very different attitude towards me. At first, I convinced myself I was imagining it, but over the years the behaviour became harder and harder to ignore.
I’ve watched this particular group grow increasingly hostile towards certain ethnicities, to the point where they even named software after a well known white supremacist group. They also repeatedly highlighted the ethnic backgrounds of people they disliked, purely to reinforce division and hatred.
The retro gaming scene is supposed to be about shared nostalgia, preserving gaming history, creativity, and bringing people together through a common passion. The vast majority of people in this community are good people, which is why it’s so sad that these kinds of groups still exist within our hobby.
I know I won’t be the only person who has experienced this kind of behaviour in gaming communities over the years. If you’ve been a victim of it too, then I’m here for you, whoever you are.

@VEsoterica @PixelCNinja #CoinOpCollection doesn't care. This is a hobby that unfortunately doesn't pay the bills. They don't need exposure or "YouTuber advertising". They could go underground, keep it internal, or stop doing FPGA related gaming and life still goes on.
English

Weekend Update! Tomorrow’s Mortal Kombat Pocket FPGA video will be the last time VGE covers cores from CoinOpCollection until the strikes against @PixelCNinja are rescinded. Simple as that. The video will be positive as the work is quality. Feel free to argue in the comments 🤣

English

@Raiikoh1 @17littlebits @retrotink2 @PixelCNinja Mike booked PCN spinning a narrative with the screenshots and isn’t even addressing the harassment. Just sit this one out and enjoy the free cores as they come out.

Dear Friends, if my channel suddenly disappears, please know it is because of fake copyright strikes from Pramod and atrac17. They have hit me with a 2 video copyright strike. This is mainly for criticising their upcoming #MARSFPGA project and talking of their hostile behaviour

@MisirajEduart NEC TOKIN was a theory. Reflow of chip solder joints has been debunked.
RIP Felix (YouTube and PSX-Place.com) and determined the best (and toughest) solution is to transfer the RSX chip from a working console PHAT console.

@DerfJagged @leonkiriliuk @HDRetrovision @terraonion @RetroRGB I do not mind, but Leon also pointed out that:
The second photo for CSYNC is direct to the port (no 75ohm), so depending on how your cable has CSYNC wired, you may have to do wire the board differently. For example:

@lnitial_D @leonkiriliuk @HDRetrovision @terraonion @RetroRGB Would it be okay if I used your pictures for 1st revision instructions for the AES RGB bypass mod page here?:

@retrotink2 Thank you for bringing this up!
I get the purpose of the “modern” auto-memory card generation but as a person who remembers inserting me memory cards and physically writing on the labels, I can’t tell if this is convenient or OCD annoying
English

@Cruzlink2 When did you get this? Was it recent? Yaton has been going through illness/family death last I heard.
English

@MisterAddons So what happens when you plug it backward and burn these sacrificial components? What are the replacements? Does the kick harness and CHAMMA (Chinese JAMMA? 😂) stop working? I am guessing a burning smell too.
English

It finally happened! Someone plugged in a JAMMA hardness upside-down on #MiSTercade. But fear not! There are sacrificial components which protect the microcontroller. This mostly affects people who use CHAMMA instead of the CPS kick harness.

English

@RakuraiMedia the fact that you can see the inputs (in #3S) from a replay is good to expose a #cheater.
the problem is that this guy is a bad example of a "cheater". Autofire is pointless, and the guy sucks, so he won't be winning any games even if he was really cheating.
English

@MisterAddons as long as they are NAS-grade it doesn't matter. I've tried WD Red, Seagate IronWolf, etc. etc. All still running at our datacentre and @ multiple clients with very low failure rates in my 15+ years of managed IT. Hell I've even used consumer-grade WD Black and had 1 failure.

@ArcadeBrooklyn @iFixRetro @beast1x5 @Cruzlink2 @nycfurby @DestinyFomo @Judgmentt @RetroRGB @Super_Joe_78 Is this in a basement? If yes. I was wondering if a Versus city can be taken apart to go up/down tight corridors and stairs? My guess is… it’s complicated?
