Significant developments are unfolding The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group, made up of the USS Boxer LHD-4, a Wasp class amphibious assault ship, the USS Portland LPD-27, a San Antonio class amphibious transport dock, and the USS Comstock LSD-45, a Whidbey Island class dock landing ship, has departed San Diego and is heading toward the Middle East. The ARG comprises the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, with about 4,500 sailors and Marines.
