@lonjuld @ChironSen At minimum. The objective in most US states is to clear the entire incident within 90 minutes. Toxic waste spills, major fires, etc obviously take more time but for simple crashes (including with fatalities) the objective is 90 minutes.

The M4 Motorway to Heathrow has been closed for five hours so far because of an accident. The Tube to LHR is also shut down today because of a strike. How much is this going to cost the UK economy? Other countries prioritize reopening highways in 90 minutes or less and prioritize resolving industrial disputes on critical infrastructure quickly. The tube strikes have been pulsing on and off for years. The country needs to pick itself up and re-establish solid, good norms. Shutting down all major access to the country's biggest airport for the day is just not acceptable. It's (part of) the road to ruin.

@MCCCANM @6463dc That procedure is now suspended. While it coincides with the ongoing rwy construction/work, the two are unrelated. Airlines were only recently notified. Arrival rate into KSFO will be much lower, depending on rwy config/flow.

@6463dc I kind of thought that might be the reason, but an ATC friend says it’s not, they just decided they won’t do it anymore. If so, that’s going to crush arrival rates. SFO will be a mess.

I’m hearing unsubstantiated rumors that parallel visuals are no longer allowed at SFO. I suspected runway construction, but that’s not it…rumor says permanently over. Also hearing they will permanently reduce the arrival capacity. Can anyone verify?
