🚨 South Carolina Supreme Court just handed Alex Murdaugh a new trial — because the Clerk of Court got caught putting her fingers on the scales of justice.
Rebecca Hill allegedly told jurors “don’t be fooled by Murdaugh’s lawyers” (aka he’s gonna lie) and manipulated the jury to guarantee a guilty verdict. Jurors are now admitting on camera they felt she rigged it.
Maggie and Paul Murdaugh were brutally murdered. The trial was a six-week national circus. Murdaugh got two life sentences. But if the system cheated to convict him… that’s a problem for EVERY American.
This is exactly why trust in the courts is in the toilet. Whether it’s high-profile monsters or regular folks, the rules can’t bend depending on who’s in the courtroom. Two-tier justice destroys everything.
The Supreme Court called it straight: the clerk “denied Murdaugh his right to a fair trial by an impartial jury.”
Now the whole thing gets reset. Heads should roll for this clerk.

@OCpatriot_ @pir8tequeen You got a really good price for a re-pipe. I've seen prices range from $1,600 (small repair) to $35,000+ (depending on the size of the house being re-piped).
English

@pir8tequeen @lsingram It was a few years ago I think I paid $8,000.
From my neighbors who have had the same thing done more recently they have said it's still in that range.

Water heater died last night. 5 yrs old, still under warranty.
Called Manufacturer, they said they'd send parts, but that'd be 4-6 days. Couldn't leave my family without hot water that long.
So I called local repair company, they'd been there 5 minutes when they quoted me $1,100 to fix it. Wouldn't break it down to parts and labor until I leaned on them hard.
- $300 parts
- $800 labor
For 30-40 minutes of work. For a water heater that cost me $700 with sales tax.
I called the manufacturer back and told them the situation and that I planned on buying a new unit at The Home Depot and install it myself (I'd installed my current one).
Rheem said no problem, take your old one with you and we'll give you full credit towards your new one.
With the military discount from my buddy that was helping me, I was out of pocket a whole $65 when it was all said and done, and even traded up a model with a longer warranty.
Thank you Rheem, thank you Home Depot.
Fuck off predatory appliance repair companies.

@Milajoy Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

@OG_GenericName @OCpatriot_ This is why so many mon and pop plumbing companies under.
English

@OCpatriot_ @lsingram I run a plumbing company, every aspect of it. It costs $185 per hour to run. The price quoted to you may be a little high, however when you account for the time diagnosing, repairing, and drive time (to your home and potentially getting the part), the quote barely covers expenses
English
@OCpatriot_ @RichardTor22695 I used a the wrong tremendously when I wrote this. Demonize was not the appropriate word, my apologies.
You are actually venting the frustration of being quoted a price that you clearly were not expecting. It happens everyday to customers. Some will agree and some will not.
English

@lsingram @RichardTor22695 I never demonized the profession of plumbing.
English
@RichardTor22695 @OCpatriot_ Saving money is always best, but to sit and demonize a profession because you think it's too much to pay is wrong. This an option.
English

@lsingram @OCpatriot_ Well said. I hate it when people try to make the professional seem stupid for charging to provide a vip service. Those people have mortgages, kids in college. Wow. He found out that you save money if you do it yourself. 🤷♂️. Just don’t knock a pro for making a living.
English

@RichardTor22695 @lsingram There's a very big difference between "making a living" and charging predatory pricing.
English
Really? So when you buy groceries you are not only paying for the food, you are paying the overhead also. IE: employees pay , insurance electricity, water , gas, maintenance. And so on.
Every business has over head that the customers pay.
Also how would you pay all of these expenses if you didn't charge for the overhead. You wont have enough to even pay an living wage.
English

@lsingram @OCpatriot_ The majority of those are personal and business expenses not the customers problem
English
@Hixie09 @OCpatriot_ Yes I did. This is standard for every reason I mentioned.
English

Had 3 slab leaks, then had the whole house repiped.
That's legit skilled labor that I would never dream of doing myself, and I paid a plumber to do it, and never regretted it.
Thanks for explaining how businesses operate, I'd never in a million years have known that with my post graduate degree in business and 20+ yrs business experience.
English
@OCpatriot_ Also, the reason your water heater went out so soon is because you did not have it professionally installed. If you had of done that he would have let you know you needed to do maintenance every year.
Your water heater will not last more than 5 years, again.
English
When you call someone to your how's to repair/replace something you are paying for the convenience of not having to do it yourself.
With plumbing you are paying for their experience, tools, gas, insurance on the vehicle, contractors insurance ( this is so you can sue them when the flood out your house or blow it up). Not to mention the plumbers pay, 30-50 pr hour. With a water heater the contractor is obligated to pull a permit which is usually 100 to 350. Plumbers have continuing ed classed every year that attend and pay for.
You sir are judging a trade you know nothing about.
Good luck with your plumbing. I also hope you never have a slab leak.
