As Kemi Badenoch has written this is a "fundamental misunderstanding" of the equality act. The Protected Characteristic applies to every person - eg white, black, Asian; eg male, female

The problem with ‘Protected Characteristics’, enshrined in the Equality Act, is that it establishes the idea that some special people should be ‘protected’ from criticism or police investigation because they are Muslim, LGBTQ etc. No one should be ‘protected’ from the law.@GBNEWS

The government’s push to cancel May’s County elections & scrap boroughs & districts & bring in unitary authorities is most high handed attack on English local govt since Thatcher govt of mid 1980s scrapped the GLC & Metropolitan Counties. Time for govt to slow down & rethink

Really fed up with ITV News. I did a pre-recorded interview in which I expressed strong scepticism about the 'coffee only good in the morning' story. But they cut all that out, leaving me apparently supporting their credulous story. I really should not be so naive.

We need to make up for the excess of Long centuries by applying cuts to some other centuries to balance the (history) books. It may be painful but it's time to declare the 21st century over - it ran from 2007 to 2020. The rest of the century is being used to pay off the deficit.
