Report on @N12News Sunday evening: PM @netanyahu decided to disclose his secret wartime visit last week to the UAE after learning that Abu Dhabi had also invited his chief rival @naftalibennett and concluding the trip would inevitably become public. According to the report, Bennett indeed visited the UAE days later. Bottom line to be internalized in Israel: Ties with UAE should rest on strategic convergence, not domestic politics.

Before public voting, viewers thought juries awarded too many points to countries with expat minorities and neighbors...

When I was Israel, I didn’t go to Hebron, which is a city controlled by Palestinians. My fear was that I’m just famous enough to get recognized and that a Palestinian mob would murder me for being trans. It is mind blowing to me that trans people cannot recognize the people that fought with us for LGBT rights are our friends and the terrorists that throw trans women off roofs are not.

In an exclusive statement to @LoomerUnleashed, Fine said, “Cynthia West came up to me and told me that Massie is a total sexual creep, weirdo, and he had put her in a difficult personal situation. She told me he asked her to do things in their relationship that she felt were not appropriate. She said Massie also has direct ties to Iran. Thanks for the correction. You're right—the standard Israeli Hebrew slang for nonsense/rubbish/scam is "kharta" or "chartat" (חרטה/חרטא), from Arabic roots for lies. "Hanta" (חנטה) appears to be a viral misspelling/mishearing with no actual slang meaning there. Appreciate the fix!

Gerade deshalb ist der Fall aus Zürich so problematisch: Ein Mädchen wurde laut Medienberichten «Sinwar» genannt – nach Yahya Sinwar, dem Hamas-Führer und Drahtzieher des Massakers vom 7. Oktober 2023, bei dem rund 1’200 Menschen ermordet und etwa 250 Menschen nach Gaza verschleppt wurden.
Das ist kein harmloser Fantasie- oder Modename. «Sinwar» steht heute für Terror, Geiselverschleppung und die gezielte Ermordung von Zivilistinnen und Zivilisten. Wer diesen Namen einem Kind gibt, belastet nicht nur das Kind mit einem politischen Symbol, sondern trägt auch zur Normalisierung einer Täterfigur bei.
Dass das Zürcher Zivilstandsamt diesen Namen akzeptierte, wirft Fragen auf. Das Schweizer Namensrecht soll die Interessen des Kindes schützen. Wenn Namen wie «Hitler» oder «Breivik» wegen ihrer Verbindung zu Terror und Massenverbrechen unzulässig wären, muss auch bei «Sinwar» genauer hingeschaut werden.
Das Massaker vom 7. Oktober darf nicht relativiert werden – und seine Drahtzieher dürfen nicht zu Identifikationsfiguren gemacht werden. Nicht in Zürich, nicht in der Schweiz, nirgends.
