@ThePOTSPostman All of us with chronic illnesses get you , it totally is grief for the person you used to be. People without chronic illness probably just cant understand this.

A lot of people misinterpreted this, maybe I could’ve worded it clearer. I didn’t say it’s the same as losing a person. I was talking about the kind of grief that most healthy people don’t recognize because there is no death attached to it. There is no funeral for losing your health, your independence, your life as you knew it. But it’s still grief.
ThePOTSPostman@ThePOTSPostman

The grief with chronic illness is weird because no one died. But your old life did. And people expect you to talk about that gently.

@idropFbombs @Meatball5296191 Except that would sort of defeat the purpose of reading for entertainment. You'd have to constantly get new books, which can get expensive

There was a movie four years ago called ‘Women Talking’. The movie was about Mennonite women realizing that they were being drugged and raped by the men in their community. So when we say that we don’t really care whether it’s 62 million men or 62 million views it’s because we know that that website is not an isolated event.

@ThePOTSPostman Yes. When I actually allow myself to cry, it makes me feel so much worse for a very long time afterwards. Any amount of crying or stress —>PEM flare. Occasionally have a minor freak out about being housebound since prior to start of the pandemic, frequently want to let it out…

Has chronic illness made anyone else feel emotionally numb? Like your own emotions are muted and you feel disconnected from how other people are feeling too?

@ThePOTSPostman For me, it's a combination of just being so incredibly tired that I can't enter into other people's situations as full as I'd like. But also having to take antidepressants is a blessing and a curse. It makes the lows less low but it also curbs some of the highs.

YOU MAY DISAGREE, BUT THE 168 IRANIAN GIRLS WOULD BE ALIVE AND THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ WOULD BE OPEN, AND THE AMERICAN SOLDIERS WOULD STILL BE ALIVE AND GAS WOULD BE $2.58 A GALLON IF TRUMP HAD BEEN HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIS CRIMES AND LOCKED UP AFTER J6✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊✊

Isreal bombing ambulance crews live on Channel 4. The UK and the USA are still supporting this. Keep sharing, and don’t stop talking about Israel’s war crimes.

You’re only ever one tragedy from being on benefits. For me I had a partner, a beautiful family, then he got sick & died. I had 4 kids; they were 15yrs, 6yrs, 5yrs & 3yrs old. We were grieving, I couldn’t afford childcare, didn’t have a family to help me. It destroyed us. All /1

@DiaryofaSickGrl Weirdly one of the things I miss is just a simple sandwich, corned beef and onion or beetroot. I also really miss curry fried rice and chips which I always had a sandwich with as well. So just plain white bread really

Due to MCAS my diet consists of ONLY sweet potatoes & beef mince. 800g of sweet potatoes and 300g of mince for breakfast, lunch, dinner, every day for 3 years. And I’ve recently realised I probably eat more sweet potatoes per year than anyone in the western world. Great record.

i work full time in westminster and have a masters degree from cambridge, but i still claim universal credit. if rent controls were a thing, i wouldn’t be spending 75% of my salary on my rent and i wouldn’t have to claim housing benefit to afford to live 🏡
Anthony O'Neill@AnthonyAinsdale

1 in 8 brits are now on universal credit. This is crazy. It's not sustainable. Time for some tough love to get people self reliant again.

So 1 in 8 Brits are claiming UC. Who are people blaming? Not the employers who don’t pay liveable wages. No not them it’s our fault for not getting a good enough job. Right, so who’s gonna do our jobs now? You know the simple answer is pay everyone a liveable fucking wage. Get me

@Bellafontew @clairebubblepop How many people do you know milking the system? Most people I know on benefits are either working or disabled. Basic UC for being unemployed does not cover even the basics. No one unemployed is living it up on their £338 per month

@clairebubblepop And whether you agree with it or not; when you’re paying 20/40/50+ % of your money, which was earned from sacrificing time with your own children and family, then you’re more than entitled to have an opinion on where that money is spent.
