@m3etre@GazzettaFerrari I agree it would wheel spin city! But you can’t ban a powertrain feature, then introduce a powertrain that requires the banned feature to control its deployment without first removing the ban. The regs were poorly considered, poorly tested and poorly executed.
🚨 | Not just the Power Unit!
Mercedes’ advantage comes from a combination of energy use, torque management, and corner-exit behavior.
And it is precisely this combination that allows Mercedes to gain especially in the first half of the straights, accumulating small advantages on corner exit which, lap after lap, turn into a significant difference in race pace.

@FulvioVigilante@DRSunlocked I don’t have any information about it but I’d be interested if Alpine is having any troubles entering the corners due to delayed Grip or something. Did you do any research regarding this?
@DRSunlocked The actuator load changes based on the air pressure due to the long straight line, it's not an advantage, it's a problem, everyone is having these variations, I'm writing a piece about it Stay Tuned ;)
Why is the Mercedes front wing variable?
I noticed this all last weekend.
The Merc front wing was closing at different speeds depending on the corner, and that at it's slowest, it was closing in about 800ms, twice what the rules allow.
This gif is slowed 4x and lines-up two corners on Russell's car where the wing closes much faster and much slower.
Anyone have any theories as to what might be going on?
@Dreadleey@GazzettaFerrari Yea true to some degree. But I do think it’d be really scary if you just had full power on the electrical side of the PU. Other Manufacturers will do it too. Watch at Oscar binning his Car in Australia. There would be way more of this which is something I really don’t want to see
@GazzettaFerrari Blah blah blah...such a fake nonsense. Merc's engine is illegal and that makes at least 90% of the performance difference between Ferrari.
Mal gucken was die Mercedes/Russell Fans dann sagen.
@MotorsportiveHQ As clarified in the rules they have the same engines with the same homologation, but I’m pretty sure they’re not going to tell them how and where to deploy the energy. Also McLaren uses their own Gearbox
🚨 MAJOR FRUSTRATION at McLaren over Mercedes engine data.
Andrea Stella reveals key information is being WITHHELD, creating a performance gap in 2026.
👉 Toto Wolff: Suppliers can't "make everybody happy" with new regulations.
Overall, it’s not just the engine, Mercedes has done a great job on the chassis and aero side. If it was just the engine, McLaren and Alpine and Williams would be up there i.e Force India & Williams 2014. Once Ferrari resolved their issues, they’ll be closer but still adrift imo
@apropos_0@formularacers_@Formula24hrs@lastwordonsport They’re forced to sell them the exact same spec they’re using as there is only one homologation. That’s clarified in the technical regulations. This post is just bs. Only differences are parts not bought by Mercedes such as the McLaren Gearbox or Oil etc if customer preferres it
@Ruang_Milenial@formularacers_@lastwordonsport No advantage at all. Theres one homologattion at the beginning of the year for the pu that gets delivered to every customer team. There are minor wiring differences allowed and if the customer team preferres it can use different oil etc
Note that McLaren builds their own gearbox
@NiicoRS699@formularacers_@lastwordonsport I always assumed the engines were the same between all the teams with no funny business going on to give one team an unfair advantage. They should all have the same spec engine, same engine software but then the rest is up to the teams

@formularacers_@lastwordonsport That really puts the customer teams in a tough spot from the start. Interesting to hear about the software and engine access differences!

Mercedes has the same PU in more cars than any other manufacturer on the grid. This is not all down to "just the PU" otherwise the gaps would not be as large compared to customer teams. I think there's some aero sorcery involved as well that is helping the PU maximize.
@ashnathan@thef1diplomat Could also be down to them designing their own Gearbox and having shorter gears in general than Mercedes. They also tend to have a bit more drag.
@thef1diplomat McLaren will catch up fast. Their deployment advantage is huge atm. McLaren will atudy what they did and learn from it. I don’t think the large gap is down to chassis at all. They lost half a second in the first sector which is 2 straights
@supermx_enjoyer@TomP1Bellingham If it’s true what you’re saying then Cadillac won’t be last this year. We’re really going to enjoy McLaren, Alpine and Williams there. Merc just built a good car next to having a good Engine
@TomP1Bellingham Worst things is, it’s obvious that they are cheating. Really hope it get‘s better in August, but the championship will be decided by then.
@MattP1Gallagher Love how everyone’s talking about the PU. If it’s this good where are McLaren, Alpine and Williams. They use the EXACT same PU. Up to this point it’s not like 2020 where you have a Mercedes Engine you’re guaranteed to be in the top 10. They just built a really good car overall
