This is a dangerous error. “The dead who repent will be redeemed” is not the teaching of Holy Scripture. It is a Mormon error that gives false comfort and endangers souls. “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 6:2). Not after death. Now. “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Heb. 9:27). Not repentance beyond the grave. Judgment. Our Lord speaks of a “great gulf fixed” (Luke 16:26). It is not crossed after death. The rich man is not invited to repent. He is told they must hear Moses and the prophets while they live (Luke 16:29–31). We do pray for the dead. But we pray for those who died in Christ, asking God to show mercy and perfect what He began (2 Macc. 12:45). We do not preach a second chance after death. Repentance is for this life. Faith is for this life. If you hear His voice today, harden not your heart (Heb. 3:15). Now is the day of salvation.

I like both of you guys, but those were just recycled (and some have been long ago debunked) anti-LDS talking points that were wholly expected. I’m not saying everything about the Restored Gospel is 100% coherent and defensible, but you really gotta get an LDS apologist or theologian on next time.

@jaredadairbell I don't know why an LDS would *first* jump to the conclusion that the flood is non-historical before they decided that it was probably a localized flood.

I’m not a fan of the idea that the story of Noah and the Flood was a myth. If that was a myth, what isn’t? Where does myth end? At some point, scriptures stop testifying of real, divine acts if you believe there are myths involved.

@jonathanaplumb Nah, Jacob's right on this. If you admit there are things that God can't do (like create a square circle or make 1+1=3), then you're admitting to laws that exist outside of God.
