So this guy calls me and I don’t pick because I was on table (Performing a surgery) Later when I call him back to explain why I wasn’t able to pick his call, he goes like.., “I know you are working but it doesn’t cost you anything to pause whatever you are doing and talk to me for me a second the same way I do whenever you call” In my head am like what do you mean I should put down the scapel, unscrub , abandon a life on table just so I can pick your call. 😂😂😂😂

I studied Microbiology in school.
The plan was simple: graduate, do my Master’s in Medical Microbiology, find my way into MLS, and build a solid career in the lab. Then one day, I visited a hospital. After attending to me, the lab scientist, someone in the exact career path I looked up to, started begging me for money. That moment shook me. These were the people I was aspiring to become. That day, I made a decision.
I was going all in on Tech.

10 years as a Medical Doctor in Nigeria. This is what I could afford. On this particular day some young boys in a Lexus were laughing at me with my tie under the hot sun of Abeokuta. There was no way on earth my salary and side hustle could get me another car. We really need to fix Nigeria for Nigerians not just for a few.

@jrnaib2 But sincerely I see nothing bad in it. I assumed he took money out of his own pocket to do it and that the people are very comfortable with that. Remember a commissioner is not an elected official as such giving as little as 100 Naira as an act of kindness needs to be appreciated

You are right, @abdullahayofel. Cement should not be selling anywhere close to N10,000 per bag. I once raised this same concern with a director in one of our cement factories and her explanation was that the price of cement has, in relative terms, remained almost the same for decades. According to her, in the early 2000s when cement sold for about N1,000 per bag, that amount was roughly $6 at the time and today, even at N10,000 per bag, it is still around that same $6. Her conclusion was that the real issue is the recent devaluation of our currency. However, when I pointed out that the major raw materials used in cement production are sourced locally and therefore should not be heavily affected by foreign exchange fluctuations, I did not get a convincing explanation. Therefore, cement should not be sold anywhere near N10,000 per bag, honestly.
A. Ayofe@abdullahayofel

When the Buhari administration closed the borders to rice importation in a bid to strengthen local farmers and encourage us to grow what we eat, government even supported them with interest-free loans for up to eight years. Unfortunately, nothing positive came out of it. Instead of increasing production and reducing prices, the greedy rice Famer inflated prices from about ₦30,000 to ₦70,000. They began rebagging local rice into foreign bags just to justify higher prices. Despite being given repeated chances by successive governments, the price of local rice still climbed to almost ₦100,000. If not for President Tinubu’s intervention, Nigerians would likely be buying a bag of rice for ₦150,000 this December. We all support local production because it grows the economy and creates jobs. However, any form of local production that exploits and endangers ordinary Nigerians must be firmly condemned. Take cement for example: why should cement sell for ₦12,000 when over 90% of the raw materials are sourced locally? If borders were opened for cement importation today, the price would crash to around ₦3,000. Local production should benefit Nigerians not punish them.

If Dangote makes an additional profit of 10 naira from 50 million Nigerians that's ₦500 million Now imagine: ₦20 → ₦1 billion ₦100 → ₦5 billion ...say No to Fuel Monopoly, Importation must continue. We're still suffering from exorbitant Cement prices. Even if everyone doesn't need cement, everyone needs fuel. #DangoteStopChokingOthers #DangoteFearGod

I am not sure what informed the selection process but there is gross underrepresentation. As much time as I spend online, I dont know any of these creators talk more of others. Tax Reform Education is a national affair and should be treated as such. These laws are going to be implemented in Isa of Sokoto State, Potiskum of Yobe State, Madagali of Adamawa State, Babura of Jigawa State—-not only in Lagos, PH, Kano or Abuja. The most underserved groups of the society have right to this education as much as the privileged because the taxes will affect their lives in a way it will affect the privileged. And based on this yout list, eve myself will miss out on the education. Everything should not be treated as if only a certain group or region is involved. We appreciate your contribution.

I honestly have 100% no idea what metric or criteria were used to select what was described as the Top 20 content creators out of the 8,591 nominations received. Looking at the list alone, one can immediately notice the glaring imbalance and misrepresentation, I couldn’t find a single creator from the core North. Considering that tax reform affects every citizen across all regions, one would naturally expect that those selected to educate the public on such a critical issue would reflect a fair spread across the country, to ensure that the message reaches every community in a language and voice they understand. If the goal is truly to educate Nigerians effectively, then I humbly urge the relevant authorities to revisit this process and broaden the selection to include more diverse creators from every part of the country.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: WHEN BROADCASTERS BECOME THE STORY When television anchors abandon professionalism for provocation, it becomes the duty of the station’s management to call them to order. But when that failure becomes routine, the National Broadcasting Commission must step in. What can be excused from a citizen’s podcast but we can not and must not be tolerated from a licensed national broadcaster. This madness must stop. @ARISEtv and its anchor, @ruffydfire, have crossed too many lines. They can not continue to constitute themselves into self-appointed prosecutors, judges, and enemies of the state under the guise of journalism. There is a difference between questioning power and attacking the very idea of order. The supervising Ministry of Information must not remain a bystander while citizens invited in good faith are subjected to insult, rudeness, partisan aggression, and empty intellectual showmanship. The media must enlighten, not incite. It must inform, not inflame. Let it be clear: freedom of expression is not freedom to abuse. Regulation is not repression it is the defence of sanity and national interest. The time has come to draw the line. Otunba Segun Showunmi The Alternative Movement.

Story: An overworked Resident Doctor, Dr. Femi Rotifa collapsed and died in RSUTH call room, after a merciless superior allegedly forced him to work straight 72hrs shift. This comes weeks after Nigerian Nurses & Doctors urged FG to end nepotism and employ more people, because they are all over worked and heavily understaffed, much less underpaid. Young Dr. Femi Femoski whose normal shift had finished, told the superior that he wasn’t feeling well, he needed to rest. The senior consultant insisted he must work, apparently they were short on staff. According to the reports, Dr. Femi Stephen Rotifa collapsed in the call room. Upon discovery, they tried to rush him to ICU. Enroute the ICU he died. In the ICU they tried to revive him but he didn’t respond. Medical experts are concluding his death was perhaps malaria and exhaustion related. With many describing the Nigerian health care system as a graveyard, where hospitals are purposely understaffed for looting, inconducive work place and lack of resources. People have shared their stories, one shared how she lost her pregnancy because her superior won’t let have rest. Check screenshots for other tragic stories. Dr. Femi Femoski was a surgery resident doctor at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH). He was also the former President of PUMSA (Port Harcourt University Medical Students’ Association). Nigerian Medical Community mourns. Follow @TrendingEx for dailies explained.
