Teaching students time management and organizational skills are as important as any skills we can teach them. Many adults still struggle with these.

Hiding weaknesses doesn't project strength. It reflects insecurity. No matter how hard you try, people who know you well will see your flaws. You might as well get credit for having the humility to look for them, the self-awareness to spot them, and the integrity to admit them.

Just because some teachers would rather stay in the classroom than go into administration doesn’t mean they aren’t leaders. In fact as a leader, seek their input and feedback if you want to build a highly effective school culture.

(3) Instructional Reminders for Principals... 1. Do NOT assume that ALL Ts understand how to align curriculum, instruction, and assessments. 2. Do NOT assume that ALL Ts have the capacity to make an aligned lesson culturally responsive. 3. Provide PD on #1 and #2 ⬆️. #OnPurpose

There are teachers who are strong, highly motivated, and who like to take ideas and run with them or speak up when things aren’t working. Effective leaders appreciate these teachers!

Treating teachers like professionals is critical for morale. * Trust their input/ feedback * If you need to meet w/ them, let them know why * No unnecessary meetings, btw many are unnecessary * Don't address issue w/ staff that you have w/ one * Praise more than you critique

If the goal is to create readers, then let them read what they want at home/free-time, even comics. Comic books average 53.5 rare words per thousand, compared with an average of 30.9 rare words per thousand in children's books, and also higher than the adult average of 52.7

This student got a 100 on his assignment. And yet… …his reflection says so much more then a mark can do in its own. This makes me wonder, how does your feedback help your learners grow, learn and know more about themselves?
