A 33-year-old man was shot and killed at a café in Marine Circle, Table View, Cape Town yesterday.
Police believe it may have been a targeted attack.
Table View police responded to reports of a shooting at about 2pm and found the victim lying on his stomach with multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.
Preliminary information suggests the shooting was directed at a specific individual and was not a random attack.
No patrons, staff members or bystanders were injured during the incident.
The motive for the killing has not yet been established, and no arrests have been made.

This thing reminded me of a time before I joined Emirates airline some years ago. We invited one of their executive to Lagos. I was working at Arik Air at the time. It happened that the day the EK guy came to visit Lagos airport, the internet was down and the entire airport immediately moved to manual boarding passes.
The EK man was like 'WOW'!!! He was blown away at the efficiency of Nigerian aviation. He said when this happens in Dubai at that time, the entire flights get delayed because they were not trained to handle this kind of operations. He went back to Dubai to tell them how much he learnt from his time in Nigeria.
When I joined Emirates, we started a project called 'Offline DCS'. This was a direct response to operational efficiency when things like this happens at the airport. So, if and when the systems break down, no flights get delayed. Everything continues as normal.

An estimated $1.5 billion in wealth was linked to migrating Nigerian millionaires between 2014 and 2024.
The country recorded 200 more millionaire departures than arrivals over the period, while South Africa recorded Africa’s largest net millionaire outflow, with more than 250 departures than arrivals linked to an estimated $1.6 billion in wealth.
On the opposite end, island economies emerged as some of Africa’s strongest wealth magnets. Mauritius and Seychelles together recorded net inflows linked to an estimated $1.5 billion in wealth.
Notably, Seychelles attracted a more concentrated pool of wealthy migrants, drawing an estimated $1 billion from just 50 more millionaire arrivals than departures, compared to Mauritius’ estimated $500 million from a net inflow of more than 100 millionaires.

NAF PRECISION AIR STRIKES NEUTRALISE TERRORISTS, DISRUPT ATTACK PLANS IN NIGER STATE The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 1 recorded significant operational successes against terrorist elements during a series of intelligence-led kinetic operations conducted between 20 and 23 May 2026 across Rafi and Mariga Local Government Areas of Niger State. On 20 May 2026, following credible intelligence on the movement and convergence of terrorists around Tungan Bako and Kasuwan Daji in Rafi LGA, the Air Component in conjunction with the Nigerian Army Space Command Regiment executed precision air interdiction strikes which successfully neutralised several terrorists and effectively disrupted their operational build-up within the area. Similarly, on 21 May 2026, terrorists moving on motorcycles and on foot with rustled cattle from Tungunguna towards Uregi were positively identified and engaged, resulting in their neutralisation and the destruction of their movement and withdrawal capability. On same day, the Air Component also provided close air support to troops in contact with terrorists at Tungan Makeri, successfully engaging the terrorists and restoring operational advantage to friendly forces. In continuation of sustained offensive operations, the Air Component conducted armed reconnaissance missions on 23 May 2026 over Dogon Dawa and adjoining locations in Mariga LGA following reports of planned terrorist attacks on troop positions. Terrorist elements observed attempting tactical movement within the area were swiftly acquired and engaged with precision strikes, leading to the successful neutralisation of a significant number of the terrorists and the disruption of the planned attacks. Post-strike assessments confirmed the effectiveness of the missions in degrading terrorist capabilities and denying the terrorists freedom of action within the general area. Reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering resolve to defend the nation and protect the lives of Nigerians in collaboration with other security agencies. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the professionalism and precision of the personnel involved, while assuring Nigerians that the NAF will continue to sustain aggressive, intelligence-driven air operations aimed at neutralising terrorist threats, protecting innocent lives and restoring lasting peace across all troubled regions.
