Why are you using English? Esperanto is the obvious choice. There’s no point in choosing phase transitions of a molecule in which to base your temperature scale. That’s not useful. Why water? Why not the average homeostatic temperature of the human body and another point for its scale? That would make more sense relative to the entities perceiving it. Every unit any of us use is tied to something which was chosen and could have easily chosen another subjectively optimal tie down. Like the meter - distance light travels in 1/299,792,458 of a second in a vacuum. “Yeah, I’ll measure a light beam 😂” In order to figure that out, you need the definition of a second, which too is arbitrarily set - the quantum vibrations of a Cesium-133 atom. None of this is measurable by any normal person. If we met a sentient being from a methane planet, guess what? - it’s probably going to be based upon something else. Base 10 is only useful if staying within the same dimensional measurement, so not really useful - people pick a distance unit based upon the object they’re measuring. Personally I like base 12 which has more whole number factors (1,2,3,4,6,12) instead of 10 (1,2,5,10). Honestly it doesn’t matter. Just wait until I explain time’s sexagesimal ordering that you’ve conveniently never cared about. Your argument is not a flex. It’s just a way of displaying honest to god pretentiousness.

Just leave the clocks set to Standard Time which keeps noon as close to 12 all year with near equal amounts of daylight before and after then people can adjust their personal schedules to when they want to make use of available daylight.

Is that a question? People think their kids will get kidnapped waiting for the bus in the dark. I got on the bus in the dark for 12 years. I’m still here. You are probably from down south and have less variance in daytime length, so it’s probably a mystery. Right now we have almost 18 hours of daytime. It shrinks to about 8 in the winter. We start work in the dark, and get off work in the dark.

I don’t see why. Most people are at work and get there when it’s dark. Or school. Or asleep. Complete waste of sunlight. 45 years of my life switching clocks, fucked up sleep schedules, losing an hour of afternoon light when it’s most needed… I hate wars, people dying, basically everything the government does. None of that shit is going to change and voting harder isn’t a thing. If I can at last just not have to change a fucking clock again, I’ll take it at any price.

I think it’s safe to say that given that we’re all on it 65% of the year now and we’re all still alive, it’s easier.

This. Central and pacific are on permanent DST. Eastern and Mountain are on permanent standard time. I live in MN. It’s completely dark at 5pm. It’s awful and depressing. 6pm would be better. Morning light is dark and light depending on your schedule, so it’s wasted for a lot of people, everyone sees it at 5pm.

Unpopular opinion: I love Daylight Saving Time. But permanent Standard Time makes more sense than permanent DST. If we’re only choosing one, let’s choose the one that aligns with nature. What do y’all think?

Everything is bound to the laws of physical reality. Unless you have a viable explanation of the reason it can do something “weird,” I’m not inclined to believe that statement. All the records of weird things - wars, etc - the circumstances of those events aren factored in or knowable. Were they ricochets? Was it from 1000yds? Was it a myriad of possible situations? It’s not possible to compare the weird situations to a very clearly explained situation.

Not sure what your beef here is. Our preferred theory is that CK was shot with a bullet from a far steeper angle than is possible from the Losee bldg. He was struck in the neck, and the trajectory of the bullet was along a path that took it to his spine. There it encountered a solid structure at a glancing angle, allowing it to both fragment and be retained. Supporting this theory are: - 7 different recordings that captured the distinctive 'crack-thump' of a high-powered rifle shooting a supersonic round. - A mangled bullet and fragments recovered from CK's body - The distinctive cavitation caused by a high-energy round dumping its energy - The lack of an exit wound Working against an exploding mic idea is: - no audio recording from any of 7 locations that records an explosion (but all record a crack-thump), - The Rode mic clip on his chest can be seen in three successive frames and PETN expands at 26,000+ ft/sec (so within the first frame the mic pieces would have been dozens of feet away but under no circumstances would have been seen *after* the supposed explosion had happened frames (see image below) - There's no burned or exploded part on his t-shirt. Even "directional charges" still explode in all directions, just concentrated along a single axis - "For every action there's an equal but opposite reaction," meaning that directional charge cannot simply throw material in one direction, but will at least throw things in two directions along that axis of focus, and we saw nothing blowing out his shirt in the other direction.
