@Deaphen Data ( memories till now) normally go with the person, that is why the saying " when a wise man dies, a library dies with him". The idea is to share and use that data to help others.

I knew her as a little girl. Her two brothers, Akhil and Aneesh Bhanot, both from my former school, St John's High School, Chandigarh were/are friends. Neerja was extraordinary and can NEVER be forgotten.
Sann@san_x_m

Her name was Neerja Bhanot. Born in Chandigarh in 1963. She grew up in Mumbai, modelled for advertisements, and in 1985 joined Pan Am as a flight attendant. She was 23 years old. Once her mother told her that if there was ever a hijack she should run and save herself. Neerja replied. Mummy, mar jayungi lekin bhagungi nahin. I would rather die than run away. On September 5 1986 she was the Senior Purser on Pan Am Flight 73 flying from Mumbai to New York via Karachi. The plane was carrying 380 passengers and 13 crew members. At 6am during the Karachi stopover four armed terrorists boarded the plane dressed as airport security. Neerja spotted them immediately and whispered the hijack code into the intercom. The three pilots escaped through an overhead hatch and fled. The plane was grounded. The terrorists could not fly it anywhere. The enraged hijackers put Neerja in charge of communicating with the airline. All other flight attendants were tied up with ropes. She was alone. For 17 hours she kept 380 people calm. She served them sandwiches and water. She spoke to them. She managed the terrorists. When the hijackers ordered her to collect all passports she sensed they were targeting Americans. She and her crew quietly hid the American passports under seats and threw the rest down a rubbish chute. 42 of the 44 Americans on board survived. After 17 hours the terrorists opened fire and threw grenades into the cabin. Neerja opened an emergency exit door. She could have been the first one out. She stepped aside and began pushing passengers through. The terrorists saw her helping three unaccompanied children escape. They caught her by her hair and shot her at point blank range. She died on the tarmac in Karachi. Two days before her 24th birthday. She was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra. The first woman and youngest person ever to receive it. India’s highest peacetime gallantry award. Pakistan awarded her the Tamgha-e-Pakistan. The United States Department of Justice gave her the Special Courage Award. Her name was Neerja Bhanot. She had every chance to save herself. She chose not to. Follow for real stories about people India must never forget.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has released a Draft of the revised Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) on Section 7, Series I , Part V, Issue II on the Criteria for approval of Chief Flight Instructor, Designated Examiner, Deputy Chief Flight Instructor and Non Flying CFI for Flying Training Organizations. The most important change in draft is the complete separation of experience requirements for Aeroplane and Helicopter. The current CAR uses a single table with one set of hours. The Draft CAR now provides dedicated columns for both categories in para 3.2 and Appendix-I, with lower minima for helicopters. The Non-Flying CFI definition has also been updated accordingly. Chief Ground Instructor (CGI) has also been completely removed in the new draft. Moroever, the new Draft now clearly states that the combined tenure of Dy. CFI / Non-Flying CFI / FI in-charge cannot exceed 12 months, and no ad-hoc, short-term, interim or piecemeal arrangements will be allowed after that. Furthermore, the new draft increases the ambit of CFI by adding a new CFI function which is carrying out the release check of DE Grade II (only by a CFI holding DE privileges). The new Draft also includes a temporary helicopter relaxation: the “different instructor and examiner” rule does not apply to helicopters until 31 Dec 2027. Other refinements include clearer QFI experience notes (with the 2500/1800 hrs threshold plus mandatory 20 hrs CFI training and 5 solos), updated cross-references to Appendix-V(A) for helicopters, and minor wording improvements in the DE change-of-FTO procedure and oral-exam scope. Comments are invited from public until 10th May 2026. sarinlaw.com/wp-content/upl… #DGCA #CAR #sarinlaw

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has introduced a new Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) in Section 5, Air Safety, Series F, Part VI on the Establishment of Flight Safety Documents System (FSDS). This CAR requires all scheduled, cargo, and non-scheduled air operators to develop and maintain a comprehensive, integrated FSDS that includes the Operations Manual, Maintenance Control Manual, and other key documents. It emphasises consistent terminology, easy access to time-critical information, proper review processes, and a dedicated FSDS Manual as outlined in Appendix A. Operators must nominate a Nodal Officer, maintain a Master Manual Register, validate documents under realistic conditions, and ensure continuous feedback and obsolete-document control. Comments are invited from the public until 15th May 2026. sarinlaw.com/wp-content/upl… #DGCA #CAR #sarinlaw

When God has a plan… From selling bhatura chole at Vivek Public School in 1989, to opening Lawrence Garden Banquet from the back of my house in Amritsar in 1990. In 1991, I chose culinary arts— a decision that embarrassed almost everyone except my grandmother. There were years of humiliation I rarely speak about. Moments that nearly broke me. In 2000, when my banquet was torn down, I almost gave up. Instead, I moved to the United States and started over. Cleaning homes. Selling food on the streets of TriBeCa. Sleeping at Grand Central. Experiencing homelessness at NYC Rescue. Sleepless nights. Being called “Curry Boy” on the 7 train. And still, I kept going. From there… 8 Michelin stars. Then losing myself again. Then starting over—one last time as a promise to my sister—with Bungalow. And now… TIME100 Most Influential People in the World 2026. I’m still trying to process it. The journey continues.

Over the last year, I have really worked on myself. On almost every angle, mentally and physically. One can call it a turning point in one's life. This would not have been possible without the constant, unwavering and incredible support I have got from @captain_speakin. Finding the right therapist can take several tries, but I think I have hit the jackpot. Thank you for making me a better human being Doc. Lots more to work on, and it will happen - with control and with grace!

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an Air Safety Order dated 27 March 2026, laying down revised guidelines for the carriage of Central, State, and other dignitaries by aircraft, including during election flying. Issued under the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024, the Order identifies covered categories of dignitaries and places primary responsibility on operators to ensure compliance with Aircraft Rules. Key provisions emphasize crew autonomy in operational decision-making and strict adherence to safety protocols, especially for temporary airstrips and helipads. The guidelines cover aircraft airworthiness, crew qualification, operational planning, and safety oversight. For election flying, the Order mandates designation of accountable personnel, coordination with election and security authorities, and periodic reporting. Non-compliance may attract regulatory action, including suspension of licences or operations. sarinlaw.com/wp-content/upl… #DGCA #sarinlaw

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a draft amendment to Para 8 (Organisation and Personnel) under CAR Section 3 Series C Part II for Air Operator Certificate (Scheduled Passenger Services). The revised Para 8.2 strengthens the Accountable Manager’s role as the person must now have full corporate authority to make decisions, with direct control over financial and human resources. A new Note clarifies that the highest executive (CEO/MD) authorised by Board Resolution shall hold this position, while the New Para 8.3 clearly lists the Accountable Manager’s responsibilities. Para 8.4 and 8.5 also talk about the same. Subsequent paragraphs are renumbered. A key update in crew requirements (new 8.8) now mandates sufficient flight & cabin crew “commensurate to operations/flight schedule, taking FDTL into account”, while keeping the minimum of three sets per aircraft. Comments are invited from the public until 25 April 2026. sarinlaw.com/wp-content/upl… #DGCA #CAR #sarinlaw
