@rockwell0000 You were likely dealing with private equity in the US. Not everyone is like that. To understand India, you have to understand the concept of "Izzat", sort of like 面目. In Japan saving face is an internal thing, Izzat is more of a competitive sport.

I think the quickest way to fix a lot of things is stripping Government officials and judges liability protection from civil lawsuits. People should be allowed to directly sue public officials for messing up.

@maddenw We have 16 trucks in our fleet. If we just bought used we’d come out way behind with how much time they’d be in the shop. We buy new with a warranty and our trucks generate revenue every single day.

We order a new Ford Maverick. Dealer calls and said they got financing approved but it’s a high rate so they recommend we put more down and in the future get approved for the Ford credit line to make things easier. I ask the rate. 12.99% I say let’s pause on the deal and let me make a few calls. 5 mins later the phone rings. They magically got it down to 8.49%. Don’t let these guys try to screw you over.

@_lumichrome @embodiedthinkr I guarantee their linoleic acid intake is unnaturally high. Seed oils, and not eating enough ruminants that can break it down in their stomach.

@Polymarket Nonsense. Small arms are enough. Iran has more mountainous square miles than Afghanistan and they are close to major cities. Iran is much harder to conquer than Afghanistan, and we know how that story ended. Just declare "victory", pump domestic energy production, and get out!

@ehn Here's the giveaway that the company is 80%+ adult daycare. They: 1) disable paste in the repeat password field, 2) hardcode the browser timeout in 15 minutes with no option to change it, and 3) mysteriously don't offer the thing that actually works, authenticator-based MFA.

Why do some developers (especially at banks and similar) turn off paste in password fields? What are they trying to achieve? If anything, it will make people choose worse passwords because they can't be bothered to manually type good ones.

The comex has 150k #silver contracts OI, equal to 750m oz of silver. This is across all months, not just march. The #comex has 100m oz of silver on their books. In total theyre 650m oz short. A force majure would cost them $45b to cash out silver contracts at $70/oz
