AI can make work faster, but a fear is that relying on it may make it harder to learn new skills on the job. We ran an experiment with software engineers to learn more. Coding with AI led to a decrease in mastery—but this depended on how people used it. anthropic.com/research/AI-as…

so, the solution doesn't matter as long as it is fast, but its doesn't matter if its fast if it takes long time to arrive at it

@krabstronaut @theodorvaryag zed is superior for rust for sure, but the short hands differ from vscode, requires to configure nd all and still might miss some features we get from cursor, but I hate using tab completion on rust code so might not be bad to switch to it, or just become a neovimer at this point

@theodorvaryag Is this in terms of memory consumption or just the quality of lsp? Since the past 3 or 4 major versions rust analyzer has started being much more memory intensive for me. If you play with heavy libs like alloy-rs or solana-sdk it straight up eats more than 10gbs of ram

rust analyzer in Zed has been more reliable for me of late than VS Code / Cursor, curious.

Today, I was fired from Meta without any explanation. No warning, no emails, no phone calls. My laptop and glasses were taken and I was escorted out of the Meta office. I was in charge of the Meta OS team, leading our efforts around the wrist band and specifically building out our video call capabilities. I am disappointed and saddened that I was let go but I am hopeful for the future.

Having a strict limit on the time spent on a planned activity is a defense against the trap of Parkinson’s law, which says that work expands to fill the time available to complete it.
