My brief analysis on the Hayes deal ... The Pirates have been looking to move Hayes for awhile. It finally happened. He was a great defender, but they need more offensive production from his position. They have an equally capable defender with Jared Triolo, and can now search for an offensive upgrade to be the everyday starter in 2026 through either future trades or in free agency. I understand the skepticism about future spending, but this wasn't a salary dump. They opened up an opportunity to improve the offense, one that couldn't have happened with Ke' on the roster. The fact that they also landed a competent MLB reliever and a top 10 prospect is a bonus. In the end, this move is, at the very least, a fresh start at third base, which was much needed.
