@the_eco_thought from not really a twitter user, just seems like an easy way to ask this question - Are hyperobjects always problematic? Are there any good ones?

@JamesARathbone Sincerely hope we see a change of scene here come May - a distinct lack of listening and hearing to the needs and views of local residents round these parts!

Delivered my first leaflet of 2022. Thousands more to go on the #labourdoorstep between now and the May local elections.

@darrenmoore Goodness - why do so many pro LTNers assume this kind of binary? It could be that they think, like many people do, that an LTN creates more inequality, increased traffic in other roads being a good example. Dnt understand why so many can't see the whole picture, beyond bikes etc

So sad 😢 I was going to stop off and buy 20 quids worth of nuts for our family bike ride tomorrow. But then I saw their poster. Not sure why a Northfields high street shop would be opposing safe cycling and walking schemes in our back streets :(

It's fantastic to see @TfL announce the next phase of streetscape improvements in Lewisham. Changes to the A21 to make it safer for pedestrians & cyclists will help transform the borough & reduce peoples dependence on cars. More announcements from @LewishamCouncil to come soon!

@MichalZadrag @psimonk I mean those who are so in thrall to one kind of solution and methodology that they can't see that they aren't the only ones with answers. It breeds division and defences. Problems are opportunities, that's all they are. There's never one answer.

I blocked a load of anti LTN folks today. And you know what, I feel so much better. I get that some folks have very legitimate concerns about LTNs and other schemes. And I get sometimes there aren't nice, easy answers to these issues. But those OneWherever groups, Ninjas etc...

@psimonk I don't see any opportunity for communities to engage with this stuff - We are not allowed to disagree because 'evidence' and 'data', and we are not allowed to engage in discussion because 'evidence' and 'data'. HOW do we discuss? The systems & methods are literally dehumanising.

As traffic levels rise, with public transport running at lower capacity, and schools and offices start reopening. They want nothing to ever get worse on their road, but are ignoring the bigger picture entirely & offer no alternative. I'm done with them folks. You should be too...

One Lewisham: Healthy Streets for All
We were challenged by @london_cycling campaigner @psimonk to ‘do constructive stuff’, so we launched our website to outline our mission, which is wholly constructive. But he blocked us, and now misrepresents our views. We haven’t rubbished studies, we’ve just read their detail.

@CfPS_Ed Hit the nail on the head, while those with pretensions of power rub their hands together and start listing their experience and problem solving skills to update their cv. Luckily some things are much more transparent than this shit-show of a scheme!

@WalkBroad @made_seen Councillors have asked officers to arrange for registered blue badge holders to be granted access via the ANPR camera gates as they have a demonstrable higher need.

There’s plenty of people with legitimate concerns about the L&LG #LowTrafficNeighbourhood - worries about increased congestion elsewhere, hospital access, and people with disabilities for example. I don’t share these worries but they’re not unreasonable. And then there’s this.

@JamesARathbone I guess you dont feel sorry for anyone then. There seems to be quite a lot of imagining going on here. I'm sure some real humility and humanity would go a long way towards resolving some of the divisions this scheme has created.

@made_seen In an ideal world there would be traffic surveys conducted 24/7 throughout the entire trial period but I imagine that would be prohibitively expensive.

@JamesARathbone Doesn't it support your predictions to show the peaks over the last few weeks and then see it (hopefully) drop off?? And what about any kind of sorry? Do you feel at all sorry for those ppl for whom this has come as a massive shock of hot pollution?

@made_seen We have baseline data for the entire area showing previous traffic levels, but until traffic has adjusted there is no point in monitoring it. The plan is to carry out new traffic surveys in the autumn.

@JamesARathbone Yes I understand that the data predicts that. But 1.we still dont have any answers about when the monitoring started - can you assure residents that they haven't already endured a month for nothing? 2. Dont you feel just a little bit sorry for those people - weren't expecting it?

@made_seen Evidence and experience suggests that congestion in adjacent areas is a short term effect of traffic adjusting, hospital access is retained for everyone and emergency services have improved access via quieter roads and the ANPR gates, and we have plans for blue badge holders.

@JamesARathbone Have you really read the rest of the comments against? 100s of them. You're picking up here on some very legitimate existing problems of the neighbourhood, and it is a complete misrepresentation to draw significant attention to them in this context.

@JamesARathbone @googlemaps So now you are redirecting (much like google) scrutiny of your appalling scheme onto multinationals? Bound to happen sooner or later. PLEASE answer questions on official start dates and success criteria so that we can reroute the scrutiny to the correct places.

This needs fixing ASAP. Over the last decade @googlemaps and other GPS providers have directed more and more traffic down residential streets. They won't stop doing it so the only solution is to close of roads and create #LowTrafficNeighbourhoods.
Marta Perez@mperezsainero

@SophieMcGeevor @vickyfoxcroft @damienegan @twoshadesofhope @PatrickJCodd searched in google maps how get from Ladywell to Sidcap and it suggests going via #springbankroad (2min faster than via Lee H Rd & 3min faster than via HGL) so my residential road is like a F1 track HELP!
