Hugo Soto-Martinez, the DSA incumbent I’m challenging in CD13, makes sweeping claims about LAPD without ever spending time in a patrol car. I’ve done two ride‑alongs: in one, a Latino father called 911 after MS‑13 members in a nearby encampment threatened him and his daughter with a gun as they walked home from school; in another, a transient in Runyon Canyon fired a gun at 8:00 PM and a terrified hiker called 911. The DSA refuses to do ride‑alongs, and it’s clear they have no idea what actually happens on our streets.
