This objection actually got raised in John 6 too. Jesus says: “My flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed” (John 6:55). And instead of softening it when people were scandalized, He doubled down so hard that many disciples left Him. The Matthew 15 argument doesn’t really work because Catholics already know the Eucharist is sacramental, not “Jesus gets digested like normal chicken and bread.” Christ’s glorified body is not reduced, destroyed, or biologically processed the way ordinary food is. Also, Paul literally warns in 1 Cor. 11:27–29 that people can profane the body and blood of the Lord by receiving unworthily. That makes zero sense if the Eucharist is only symbolic. And the irony is that the same people mocking Catholics for taking Christ literally in John 6 will usually insist we take “born again,” “Lamb of God,” or “door” symbolically. Context matters. Catholics believe exactly what Jesus said: “This is my body.” Not because it’s easy, but because the earliest Christians believed it too.

If you think Faith Alone will save you… If you think Scripture Alone is truth… Why do you even go to Church? Anything your Pastor says could be straight up heresy or cause you to lose your faith! It’s because inherently you know that a place of worship is necessary. You know this because the true faith, the faith the Apostles passed down, stems from this tradition of worship. And it’s never enough at these “worship sites” because they don’t have the true, sacrificial, presence of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The further your worship differs from the faith of the Apostles, the emptier it feels, because that’s what it is, empty worship. You sing songs of praise, but God asked for REAL WORSHIP. That’s what we do at Mass in the Catholic Church every day that there is Mass. No number of worship songs and sermons can replace true worship, try as you might. It will not replace the Mass. Become Catholic, join the one true faith.
