Most people waste hours organising their knowledge systems.
But any information can essentially be organised in one of two simple ways.
Here's how ↓
We live in a world with a lot of information.
And we're all on this constant quest to capture it, organise it & feel some sense that we've wrangled it in a way we can make sense of it again.
And you can waste a lot of hours trying to organise all the types of knowledge.
So to keep things simple in my system I use a two part framework for organising any kind of knowledge.
Whenever I have information to organise, I ask myself this question:
➤ Is This Passive Or Active Knowledge.
Passive Knowledge is any kind of information that is simply something you reference. You save it so you can find it again later.
• Reference material
• Swipe file
• Recipes
• Contacts
🔎 To organise passive knowledge types use a CATEGORY field.
For instance if you have a list of reference material to organise you would organise it by category (tax, finance, personal, work, etc.).
Active Knowledge on the other hand is any kind of information that moves through a process. You save it so you can track it through a process.
• Tasks & Projects
• Wishlists
• Books To Read
• Content Calendar
🔎 To organise any kind of passive knowledge you'll want to use a STATUS field.
So if you have a list of tasks you need to do you can add a status field that moves them through to an end state (incoming, in progress, complete, paused, cancelled, etc).
Can you make it more complicated than this. Of course (we can make anything more complicated).
But essentially if you want a minimum viable organisation system for your knowledge that doesn't take hours to build this is it.
All you have to do is ask yourself: Is this Active or Passive.
And organise accordingly.

Thanks to all the assholes that fucked with @taylorswift13 and to those that stood by her so she could write these songs after.✌️

I’m only to the second song of @taylorswift13’s new album and I think this is my most favorite one yet. #listeninginthedark

Just discovered @brian_lovin's personal site. It's structured like a note-taking app and I love it.
This is one of my favorite UI patterns; it makes the whole site so easy to explore.

How:
Say no often.
Let them practice making their own decisions.
Don’t bail them out for poor decisions.
Teach them to work and have discipline in the home.
Set a good example of the above.
Love them and make them feel secure. And they will watch me treat their mother with respect all the time.
And they’ll NEVER hear me blame a teacher, referee or coach for a tough class or game.

Teach your kids two things above all else:
1. Life is hard.
Learn to deal with hard things. Not getting what you want. Other people letting you down. Losing. Struggling with addictions and health.
2. Hard work is a necessity.
Doing what you want to do is rare. Most humans (even very wealthy ones) have to do a lot of things they don’t like.
Get used to these two things and learn to persevere through the struggle.

@threehourcoffee I've lost 2 pets this year, and it can be hard and painful. I have a nice thought to console me. I haven't thought much about heaven or hell when I die, but I like to think when I go, I'm going to see all my pets who have passed come running up to me. I love imagining this. 🥰🤗

My heart is in pieces.
I lost my best boy yesterday.
He was 13 but it still felt sudden.
I know a lot of you know Homer as he was often in the background of my pics.
He was the sweetest, funniest and most loving little guy, and I feel very grateful to have had spent such a good amount of time with him.
Yesterday Homer had a massive seizure. I rushed him to the vet immediately and they tried for several hours but we just couldn’t save him.
I know it was his time. And I know I did everything I could. But it still doesn’t take away the heartache. I will miss him so much.
They are with us for such a short time but have such a huge impact on our lives.
Rip my little guy
