First big fight I attended and the ringwalks were the only highlight but I look back on the night fondly and still watch the HBO broadcast back every few years. Arrived early Saturday morning into Hamburg and left about 6pm on the Sunday evening. 16 hours each way from London to Hamburg iirc with a connection in Brussels. Then I had to get to/from Manchester via coach too.

@rory_fahy You're right. Kameda was the WBO champion at the time of the first McDonnell fight. The WBO would not accept a "unification" with the WBA regular champion. Although McDonnell lucky in the first Solis fight iirc.

@RoldBoxing y i hate the reg belt is it makes things confusing. mcdonnell was an ibf champ, was ranked 3-2 by ring in the division and had wins over kameda and solis who where champ level. he had done enough to be a champ and would of got a shot if not 4 the reg belt.

You shouldn’t. Those two fights were against McDonnell and Payano when Burnett and then Donaire had the top WBA belt. And he beat Donaire for it. They couldn’t both be the rightful WBA titles he won. It’s 26
